Navigator skill description says:
Passive skill: +20% to fleet speed in a strategic level
("In a strategic level"? That's not my point though...)

Now how does this result in fleets of Schooners (base speed 14) zipping around at 22 knots? I've got two of those. They can go from Barcelona to India in 4 months. I've also got a fleet of Brigs (base speed 10) going at 17.

Someone's gonna say the ships have gotten sailing exp from supplying at ports while traveling. Indeed, some of them have. When I put the same Schooner fleet under the command of a non-Navigator captain though, the max speed while sailing drops to 14. Back to Navigator guy, 22. The Brig fleet under non-Navigator goes 11 which would indicate the presence of some sort of sailing exp bonus. The schooners in both full schooner fleets have all seen more use and they get none.

Navigator seems more like a +50% boost. Games often do rough rounding or show only pretty full numbers in UI so I'd hesitate to declare it as exactly 57% or anything just from these examples.

EDIT: Fleet of 1 Galleon and 4 Brigs, normally limited to speed 8, goes 13 under a Navigator captain.

well the code says

navigator // passive = no active or cool down time
{
type = str_FLEET_COMMANDER_SKILL_NAVIGATOR
desc = str_FLEET_COMMANDER_SKILL_NAVIGATOR_DESC
value = 1.5
pic_col = 13
pic_row = 10
skilltype = str_FLEET_COMMANDER_TYPE_PASSIVE
disabled_pic_col = 13
disabled_pic_row = 18
}

if you look at value = 1.5 it is a 50 % boost it should have been 1.2 too boost 20% something has gone wrong when marking the code or tekst.

Couldn't we keep it instead of fixing it. Make it like a super duper navigator skill. I do love zipping across the map in no time at all.:D:D:D

Well he didn't say what they're fixing, the description or the effect. :)

I'm not sure if the skill would be competitive with Organizer, Haggler and Salesman if it was only 20%. The aggressive rounding needs to be considered too, especially with the slower ships. Galleons going from speed 8 to 9 wouldn't seem worth the upkeep (of the higher level captain) or the opportunity cost (of not taking something else)...

I think the value should be corrected to 1.2 in the next patch. Then the speed will be more realistic. Those who wants the greater value (and greater speed) are free to modify their own files.
