...by about 4 lines :D GIMP is free, but it has a hellish User Interface. Photoshop is easy and smooth to make shields, GIMP is bloody atrocious (I gave up).

For flags you need aGIF program I believe (I could never make the blasted things anyway). :eek:o

There is a plugin/hack/program whatever that changes the menus of the GIMP to resemble those of photoshop. I believe it is gimpshop that can be found at :

Frankly, I wouldn't bother. It's far too difficult. I have Adobe CS2 and I still can't make head nor tail of how to design the damned things :)

If you can get your hands on a Paintshop Pro (8 or 9) I would do that. I seem to recall being able to make shields relatively easy on that (before the trial ended, grr).

But have a go with GIMP (it is free after all, if you don't like it, delete it), but it is hellish to use.

I recall you have to place the image exactly were you want it ON TOP of the shield before you drop the layers... bloody annoying.

Saw your 'Burgundy France' in the request thread SunZyl. Thumbs up, jolly good effort, I would be happy with it. :D

Thanks. I got my hands on a trial version of Photoshop and it was quite good.

I have Paint Shop Pro X (it's Corel, not Jasc. Did they buy them out or something?) - it's not a bad program (CS2 is better...), but I can't make shields really :(
