I love this game and had played it for years. I got a new computer that uses Win 8.1 and I cannot get this game to work. I downloaded AOD, then tried to run it and AOD appears to load but I cannot correct the game's resolution. My computer is set to 1920 x 1080. The opening menu is extremely large and I am unable to see all the buttons and the current version. I then downloaded the latest patch from this forum, and I still have the same issue.

I'm not very tech savy but after reading through some of the earlier posts, I tried to change the resolution by editing the config files to 1920 x 1024 but that does not work either. I even changed my computer's resolution from it's current 1920 x 1080 to 1024 x 768 and I get the same problem: AOD's start menu is gigantic, and I cannot see the entire screen. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you mean 1920*1080, right?

If you really set it to 1920*1024 it's normal that the game doesn't play in your resolution of choice (as it is incorrect).

Be that as it may, if you open settings.cfg and edit these two lines:

Code:
1024 #Width
768 #Height

to

Code:
1920 #Width
1080 #Height

then save and exit, you should be good to go upon launching the game the next time.

Thanks Titan79, this has solved my laptop screen resolution problem. I still can't launch the program from the arsenal exe file, windowed mode still isn't available, and it still doesn't display the screen resolution settings, but I can now run the game.
