My brother and I used to play HOI2 through a local area and so we went to play it after a couple of months and our games couldn't find the other game. It wouldn't acknowledge a connection between two computers, so I tried patching both games to 1.2 but its still isn't working. I tried making the compatibility the same for both games, but that also didn't work. I also tried running it in administrator mode. If anyone knows why our games won't read each other please help me out. (I'm sure it's not the connection because AOE3 works fine for us)

LAN doesn't usually work too well with HoI. You should try the direct IP option by using the real IP, or getting hamachi and using the hamachi IP.
If you fail to establish connection there, then the problem lies probably within your router or firewall and you need to open up the ports that HoI uses.
