Hey all,

I built the Omega Telescope and it gave me 3 crappy breakthroughs. It gave me Martian Steel, Giant Crops, and Martian Diet. I don't need the food bonus or metal reduction, considering I have 14 farms producing Quinoa nonstop and the Mohole built.

I read online that if I reload the game, the Omega Telescope will give me new sets of breakthroughs. I've had no luck. I keep getting the same 3 crappy breakthroughs. Here's what I tried based on the solutions people have posted online:

1. Turn the construction site off for a few seconds, and turn it back on to finish it.
2. Delete the blueprint and place a new one in the exact same location and build it.
3. Loaded an older save before researching the Omega Telescope, then build it when researched.
4. Quitting the game to the main menu, and reload the game from the main menu.
5. Quitting the game entirely and load the save game up and build the Telescope.

I tried all these methods, and nothing worked. I'm on the PC. Is there any way to change the RNG or seed or whatever for the Omega Telescope to give better breakthroughs that are actually useful?

Does that mean the Omega Telescope breakthroughs are locked by the map, along with the breakthroughs scanned on the map?

I got different breakthroughs when I got the SpyTech event when I was trying out all the packages in it. I picked the Platinum package first, then tried the others. Got a different breakthrough when I picked the Platinum package a second time. Same thing when I got Red Mars planet anomaly. I investigated the site, got a breakthrough, reloaded when it killed 10 colonists and 5 buildings, then tried the database upload option, thought the money was meh, then reloaded and picked the investigate site option again. Got a different breakthrough.

Update.

I've managed to change the Omega Telescope 3 breakthroughs. It only happens if you unlock specific ones. For example, when I unlocked "The Positronic Brain" breakthrough, the telescope gave me Superior Pipes, Superconducting Computing, and Neo-Concrete. However, if I got a different breakthrough instead of Positronic Brain, the telescope gives me the Rare Metals, Giant Crops, and Martian Diet breakthroughs.

I got the breakthrough change behavior on a few other breakthroughs like Lake Vaporators. This is most noticeable when you scan a map or planet breakthrough anomaly and then build the telescope before scanning the next one. Then reload before the telescope is built, and pause construction until you scan the next breakthrough.

Scanning other objects like technology or research anomalies don't seem to change the telescope breakthroughs.
