I saw them in the latest Dev diary.

In Christopher Atwood's "Encyclopedia of Mongolia and the Mongol Empire" though often mistakingly called Nestorians they actually belonged to a syncretic form of the Church of the East based in Persia IIRC. They were only succesful in spreading so far by an incredible open mindedness unlike other denominations like the Orthodox.
Several of their patriarchs were from Mongolia, they ruled any alcohol could be used including airag or fermented mare's milk unlike many such as the Orthodox who ruled that only wine from grapes could be used as a deliberate way to segregate their communities from European farming communites from the mostly pastoral Turks and Mongols who would have a harder time sourcing grape wine.

According to Jack Weatherford the ones in Mongolia were hybridized with Tengrism often having Jesus more as a demigod, polytheism with their native dieties, etc.

Conversions were done by Nestorian preachers. They were in communion with the Nestorian patriarch. The local version reshaped cultural practices and local beliefs within a Christian context. At the very least, it should be similar to how Insular and Khazar Judaism both work.

I think the Nestorian faith should be split into several groups all under the same rite, with perhaps the steppe part being syncretized with tengriism like Nestorian is right now and perhaps a unique tenet

Sure but can you come up with a better name? It's just kind generic.
Could be called Arkhun, Erkeum or Arklaim, which is how Mongols call Christians among them including Catholic. While Indian Nestorians could be call Nasrani, Chinese Nestorians could be called Jingjiao

I could be wrong, but there aren't any Chinese Christians in any of the start dates, iirc. The Christians were expelled from China in 845 alongside a general persecution against "foreign" religions (including Buddhism and Zoroastrianism as well) by the Tang emperor Wuzong, and wouldn't return until The Mongols took over in the 13th century (during which Catholicism would also establish itself in the country). Of course, they then faded into obscurity again once the Ming took over, and it really isn't until the 16th century with the Jesuit missions that a permanent Christian presence takes hold in China.

The game includes faiths that don't exist until later in the game's time period* or are dead when the game starts. No reason Chinese Nestorianism can't be included and a decision to revive it as well.

*That end up appearing as random heresies

That is what it is called though?
Sure but "Church of the east' in game just sounds like a completely generic unclear religion even if it's the real term we use for it.

Kind of like how a lot of pagan faiths are something like just "heathen faith" or "pagan faith" in the regional language.

The name should probably follow around the lines of what the Khazar Jewish faith was named in game.

Looking at the Church of the East, "Syriac", "Chaldean", "Assyrian", and "Babylonian" seem to be the main contenders for alternate names.

It does look like the naming is going to be *complicated* if they change it.

Maybe just give it the transliterated name of Christianity from Turkic.
