Did you sign the Commercial Agreement with the USSR? If so, then you will get dissent-reducing shipments from them. Obviously too late for your game but in the future rather than rush into the Low Countries, try a historical Sitzkrieg until your dissent is reduced again by the CA events. It all balances out quite nicely actually and gives Germany an extra six months for doing Weserubung and deploying new units. I'm even toying with an AI parameter to make Germany do this all the time

I invaded the west on May the 10th, 1940 and yes, I did sign the treaty with the Sovjets which INCREASED my dissent the one time it fired, not sure if it needs to fire more. I thought the German people might have been "angry" in dealings with the USSR. It definitely increased my dissent.
 
Good catch, hendriks - that's a bug. In antarctic.txt find this section and edit the dissent change to -2. It can fire six times so you've got a potential dissent reduction of 12 points in there. Suggest for your ongoing game that you reduce dissent by 4 points if you've not already fixed it via increased CG spend.

In fact, i keep seeing original icons, not CORE new ones. What in fact is better for me, because i like to play with original ones.:D

Quite interesting, paisano perhaps graphics bugs only happened in Zaragoza city?
 
Continued playing a bit yesterday, fixed the antartica bug to dissent -2, adjusted all resources down enourmously, adjusted manpower down another 400 point.
August 1940 - May 1941

- Italy sends almost ALL its fighters, bombers, naval planes etc to Suwalki????? I'm not even in war yet with the USSR, and Italy is loosing in North Africa and not doing ANYTHING against Greece.

- I invite Yugoslavia to enter the Axis, they turn it down 3 times, but join on the 4th time, immediately after the event fires, Yugoslavia leaves the Axis and joins the Allies, UK releases Yugo from puppet status and all is fine, great event! Axis now at war with Yugo and Greece.

- UK finishes Musso's dream of an African empire in the eastern parts, UK finishes in about 4 months all Italie's possesions, finally! Great tweaking.

- However hard I try, November 1940 sees the election of Wierki or whatever as alternative outcome in the US presedential elections, I saved and reloaded the autosave and my own save 4 times but nobody wanted Roosevelt back.
Because of this, I guess, the US stays neutral in Land-Lease.

- UK declares "then we take what is rightfully ours" and suddenly UK is at war with Ireland, I didn't really like that, I think they can use all their resources and troops themselves, so I let it fire again this time UK went for a peaceful solution.

- Driving through Yugoslavia is fast, but then Greece, even with a fortress buster and only infantry, I get zip, I get nowhere, huge losses and no breaking it, I've got deep dive bombs and 10 JU88's and 3 stuka's bombing like clockwork, but no fortress reduction, do I bomb strategic or tactical?
Anyway, broke through in April 1941 with everything I had, Bulgaria had taken 2 provinces and I can't finish Krete because I don't have paratroopers. Better keep an eye on Italy if they ever invade it.

- I've gotten myself in trouble reducing my resources, they are running out so I need the coal of Yugo and Greece, but still do not make it, IC is at 495 while full can be at 525.

- UK invades Wilhelmshaven, 3 mech and 2 tank divisions, rather a large and expensive force, I've only got it covered by 1 infantry division the coastal works are not ready yet, so they take it, but I've got forces in the area, although they need to march up which takes about a week. In that time, 2 mech + 1 tank move south and take that province due south, but they seem badly supplied and I push them out so easily.
So that costs the UK almost a complete mobile army which could have swept North Africa and probably invaded Italy as well. Pity.


Well, preparing hastily for Barbarossa, start date June 1st, in search of resources now.
I've caught up in infantry divisions, I saw infantry needs to be upgraded sometimes as well now, great.

The scripting options for air units AI is a bit incomplete. Don't know if we can really affect air unit placement :(

Well, they were like maxed out after the west victories, so I would have slowely lost some rubber but with that stockpile I would have been set for many years. I am just thinking that the amount that can be stored for resources should be down from 5 numericals to say 4 numericals, so max 9.999? (reduces the amounts you can "grab" etc)

Yes, I am shipping resources to Slovakia, they have a good army now, I might lower that;)
I ship coal to Germany when requested via events only.

I once bombed that Aiona fortress and it went from 5 to 4 but never more down then that, it might have been the fighter bug.
Note that both forts of the maginot bordering directly to Germany have now gone, I think due to all the air to air combat above it?

I guess the AI must be thinking that I'm at war with the USSR, Italy's aircraft there, UK attacking Wilhelmshaven, I don't know, smells fishy!

- Forgot to mention, the USSR keeps asking for Petsamo, but Finland keeps rejecting 5-6 times now, that's great for the AI because now it won't base 20 divisions in the north next to Germany's Norway border..........(maybe that claim should be deleted, it really hampers the Russian AI, 20 divisions that can be spread out on the real front with Germany, let's see when I get there in 1 month......
 
Yeah, the Petsamo claim has been discussed before... I'll tweak the garrison AI a bit and see if that helps although realistically the front AI will take over once war breaks out. Considering the actual Moscow treaty wording I'm not sure if the Petsamo claim is justified so maybe it should be removed.

9999 resources would be less than 10 days supply for a well-developed USA... scary :eek: I think the solution has to be the enhancement bug that Vulture logged, although there might be other approaches open to us (changes in resource production, convoys and world market).

Well, I didn't puppet Denmark, I just declared war and invaded it and trust me, it didn't fire. Maybe it only fires due to the event cyclus with puppet status?, because I never choose invasion of Norway by event because I'm not ready for that in november 1939.
 
Well, it should fire regardless but there's maybe an error in the triggers. I'm not sure if the v0.3 triggers are the same as v0.4, we are potentially running slightly different versions. I'll test the annex (no puppet via event) path in v0.4.

Barbarossa started, June 15th 1941!

Well, what can I say, a disappointment for the German army, I had 90+ infantry, 16 PZKWIII, 10 motorized, 6 fighter, 8 bomber, 3 stuka.

- First thing that impresses is the sheer strenght of the russian army, although all borders showed no more then max 10 divisions and in the south even 2-3 (border Romania), they did really put up a fight.
I saw only T34 tank divisions and their infantry is strong in defence. Hence, some breakthroughs were accomplished but the big break and encirclement of Minsk fails MISERABLY, my inf + tanks which I have attack together now fail to close the gap in Minsk because suddenly the USSR has 30+ strong divisions here, no way in breaking through! The central front remains before Minsk.
In the North, I break in September and take Riga (USSR has bad news from the front fires) and the province above in a swift infantry dash. Helas, Finland takes Leningrad!!
In the south I break Lvov and drive quickly east and south encircling the boekovina area (a novelty for me is also not to take military control of Axis satellites, I only use the armies they send me and they keep A LOT behind), but another crisis, I decided to break up Kleist's 5 panzers into 2 and 3, and have one part take Odessa and the other break through to Kiev, both FAIL, my 2 (a little beaten up) panzers under Hoth fail against 1 T34 tank divisions and 1 infantry.
After I send the infantry much later, I take it and Roemania FINALLY finishes the trapped (only ONE)tank division in Boekovina.
South has more possibilities so I drive towards the Don in September, army group center is deadlocked and it takes AGES to get the battered tank & infantry divisions up to org. again.
Manpower suddenly ZERO.
All resources run out, but economy managing a fine 530 average.
Rostov is taken, Dnieper dam event fires, I take Kiev and Charkov but need new divisions now, any attempt to the north fails.
Frontline now roughly Estland, 2 provinces around Minsk, marshes going okay, Don reached there on 1 point, south looking better, Bulgaria took the Krim with 3 infantry div's by BOAT!!

- USSR gets Patriotic War NEVER fires (=edit, now I know because Minsk = still SOV!)

- USSR puts great forces in Minsk, up to 30 divisions while the rest of the front is defended but only lightly, lightly enough for Finland to walk into Leningrad.

- USSR airpower is AMAZING, 10-15 fighters concentrated, they decimate my fighters/bombers etc.

- UK invades Lille (11th July 1941) with 11! infantry divisions (3 Canada, 3 France, 5 UK). They break my 2 defense divisions and destroy the force 2 fortress. They however do not break out and I can rush reinforcements and attack 2 weeks later from all directions and retake it, but a bit of a crisis anyway.

- Italy is finished in eastern africa (but I can still see the area) and is before Cairo in the North but this front looks locked.

- Japan successfully influenced the USA in October 1941

- Persia was declared war on 2 weeks after I started Barbarossa by the USSR and the Allies but now, in October 1941, they are STILL fighting and it looks like the only progress is by the USSR, ONE province! This takes frontline troops from USSR so I'm not so sure if this is good?

- Mannerheim decided not to attack Leningrad for both political and military reasons no matter how hard OKW tried (Keitl & Jodl even flew up with personal instructions from Hitler to attack east of the city around it and cut it of making contact with German forces there) Mannerheim REFUSED. Can an event be introduced that Finland decides not to attack Leningrad with a B option of yes, we'll attack for a human player. Does that command exist

So, October 1941 now, I will not make it to Moscow for sure, but can maybe pull a trick in the North and South. One more try in October to take that long province on the approach to Moscow with everything I got and we'll see how we settle for the winter.

(only when puppet state exists, otherwise only a 25% random chance?)
 
Looks like late-night trigger design by Steel Will fix.

You might potentially have to go over all those events, they seem to be firing perfectly when DEN = PUPPET but not at all when Germany declares war.

What about setting up a transport transporting the oil from Gottshalk and Reykjavik to UK (USA has plenty of oil themselves)
Not sure what they actually did with that oil, maybe they didn't need it?

Well, I doubt there were historically any oil wells there on Iceland back in HoI times.

Continued Barbarossa and furhter observations, I decided not to add the 200MP because 2 events fired immediatley that gave me 150MP from the Baltics.

- Remember I had problems with the USSR, well, they are fixed, no matter how they might look when you just invade and see all those divisions, they can always be easily rolled up province by province.
I had a weird front and Minsk was the last pocket to fall in April 1942, 50+ divisions because they let themselves get surrounded and do not see the potential danger.
I took Vitebsk in November 1941 but it was CLOSE but I did it and that changed everything, I turned south from there and surrounded and split up the whole undefended front behind Smolensk and the marshes and made contact with other troops in Kiev.
I tried Moscow because it was empty but they use it as a front of course which means troops march up and down and up and down, so Guderian's 4 panzer divisions didn't make it against 1 T34 div, although Guderian was severely mauled in Vitebsk. But who needs Moscow anyway.
During the winter (not a lot of snow at all) I finsihed all the pockets and now things look sunny, Maikop has already been taken, so summer 1942 will bring definite victory in the USSR.

- Great Patriotic War never fired of course because I only took Minsk in April 1942, had this event fired when Germany declares war, it might have been a different game.

- Finland has a lot of fun pocketing some USSR divisions and pushing east and south, cutting Murmansk.
Again, could an historical event prevent the Finns from rampaging the USSR and take Leningrad and more? (go to defensive_ai?)

- Persia is another problem, they are still fighting there in April 1942 and remain with the same 2 provinces taken, one by USSR in the north, one by UK in the east. This should be tweaked really, the Persia campaign lasted 1 month and it takes vital USSR divisions from the front.

- Japan declared war on the Phillipines end November 1941 and is then automatically at war with the USA as well, but how does Germany ever end up at war with the USA? Japan and Germany can influence USA so much that they are now almost fascist alligned although liberal-conservative.
Maybe add an event that the Alllies ask USA to enter their alliance when they are not at war yet in March 1942?

- Phillipines are being run over by Japs and only manilla and 2 more provinces remain after 5 months.

- Well, when Germany runs out of MP, just build huge amounts of subs/fighters/bombers and win the war that way??
Don't know how this can be solved, but it seems ridiculous.
