Well, France and the UK didn't declare war until the 3rd of September so having them at war on the start date of the scenario would be ahistorical :)

The M-R Pact is in effect already (it was signed on the 23rd of August), you will not get a pop-up to sign/decline.

You should absolutely get a difficulty setup event if you play a Germany, UK, USA, USSR, Japan, Italy or France. No other country gets those events though.

Steel, Yes, I was quite wrong about the war situation. I should have said Poland wasn't allied with England, France and the others.

As to the MR pact, Is there anything in the 39' scenario EUG file that can be changed to negate the pact being already signed. To accomadate the start time in June?

Removing the corresponding event IDs from the history list should do it.

Hi, I'm not sure if I should post this here or in the bug thread but whenever I play CORE 0.9, my games always crash in 1940 or 1941.

I reinstalled 3 times over 1.6c (deleted everything and reinstalled) and it still does that. None of my games have gone further then novemeber 1941 because of that.

I never had any problems with previous versions of CORE even 0.85. What could be causing this? I would really like to be able to play this. I love the news events and tech tree modifications (even the nuke one). But unless this gets fix, I'll have to go back to 0.85. :(

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT: I havnt modified anything except for a change of the German Flag so it cant be files that I've messed up.

Are you getting a particular event prior to the CTD? Check your history.txt after the CTD, and see if there's anything consistent in there. Anything specific you are doing when the game CTDs? It's hard to tell what the problme is, without more details.

If you have a v0.9 save game that crashes shortly after you load it then please zip/rar it and send to steel@melachea.demon.co.uk. If the crash isn't repeatable by loading the latest save game then it's not much I can do though. For what it's worth I've run *many* v0.9 games all the way to 1947 and I've observed a moderate number of CTD problems but reloading the latest autosave always allowed me to continue running the game.

Has anyone finished downloading without problem? I don't know if I should wait for a while...

Downloaded went fine for me on first attempt. Also, judging from some of the other replies, the download has worked for many others, too.

Edited to add:

Dang it! I spoke too soon! I downloaded the file just fine, and the size checks out at the prescribed 32.9MB, but I get the checksum error when I attempt to install it. Downloaded it afresh, still get the error. My HoI install is fresh and freshly updated to 1.06c, so I am at a loss and getting a bit grim here....

Still dont know what is using that damn 32mb unfinalized copy of Core .9 so i cant delete it.....

I have seen this problem with WinXP a couple of times before. The only true fix I have ever found is to reformat and reinstall Windows. It seems to be a bug in the Windows file system (a BUG?! From Microsoft?!?! GASP!!! )

A workaround is to redownload to a different target destination, preferably a different physical hard drive if you have one.

Fantastic work to the CORE team, but I've hit a few snags.

When the British released Lebanon after conquering it, there were leader conflicts on ids 99001 and 99002. Then, later, when I (Germany) released the Baltic states following the Ribbentrop-Schulenberg scheme, I got leader conflicts on ids 4900 to 4930, 130000 to 130022, and 19000 to 19034 inclusive.

I've also got a crashbug around 1941 that I haven't pinned down yet, and for some reason I couldn't get the autosave to work - it was turned on, set to 5 monthly, but never saved in 5 years of gameplay.

How to stop the partition of Yugoslavia

Since the 0.85 thread is closed...

I have looked in the event files but can't seem to find anything corresponding to Yugoslavia. I'm playing as Germany and have Hungary allied, and the event when having taken all of Yug VP is interfering with my plans for a bigger Hungary :).

So, is there any way to prevent that from happening, had similar problem when playing Italy but then I could annex Yugoslavia before the event fired. Unfortunaly that does not work in this situation :(.

Do you mean Event 752361, Partition of Yugoslavia? It's with the rest of the YUG events in core_SEurope.txt. It'll only occur if over 50% of YUG's territory is occupied, and you can hit Zagreb, Beograd, and Sarajevo with only about four provinces captured. As long as your allies don't come whoop on north YUG, you should have no problems. And if that's your problem, move faster! :)

I've had all the VP provinces, but I cannot annex them. Will look for the event.

Edit: Found it! Will try deleting it, thanks.

Edit2: Hope that removes the "not able to annex" problem...

Edit3: The annex problem was just that Germany and Hungary each had 2VP.

Great work again at CORE.
I am encountering one or two problems though.
I have run about five test games, and the Germans not even once declared war on the Soviet Union. Whats up with this?
Second, it seems as if its no longer possible to load a save game as another country. Have tried about 20 times with different countries and save files, and the game always crashes.
Any help out there?

I have invaded Soviet and started a big encirclement from Hungarian territory, and I saw a chance to take Moscow, and did so. This resulted in Moscow being Hungarian and now I wonder if that can cause any problems, either for the peace event (I guess there is one when having taken Moscov, Lenin. and Stalin.) or for how the provinces gets divided.

On the second part I'm pretty sure Germany will get the provinces, but would be nice if someone more experienced with the Soviet peace event could comment on that.

In CORE this depends on the occupation policy you chose at the start of the war. It's much more complicated than the original Paradox Bitter Peace events. See mod-CORE\scenarios\events\cored_new_order_east.txt for details. Looks to me like Hungary controlling Moscow could be a problem.

I chose "conquer, rule and exploit", I looked up that at the forum and it was either that one or the Rosenberg option. There were some things that I thougth unclear about the R option so I chose the first. (As I understood it I would annex Soviet bit by bit).

Sadly I find it quite difficult to get anything useful (on this situation) out of the "new order east.txt".

Thanks anyway :)
