I must insist in the point i talked about a few posts ago: the coastal fort sprite could be only a little image of a beach with forts or something like that, so it doesn´t matter where it faces. It´s easily reconigsable as sea forts, and Imho it won´t look as weird as naval guns aiming to inner land.

I actually if you have land forts and coastal forts, the Coastal fort goes over it,a ndt he land fort doesn't show up.

Klesh, I like the new Land fort sprite a lot.

Great stuff.

As to Coastal battery : maybe have it represented by a fort with guns sticking out to all four sides. I am not sure whether that would look good, but it certainly beats the direction problem.

why not flip the graphic around or find some other Civ2 solutions like you are doing there Klesh :D

.
Is there any solution already for the coastal forts?
Stony Road already uses your landfort!

Greetings N!ghtY

To tell you the truth, I havent been trying. I reformatted my machine this past weekend and am now toying with the wonders of photoshop. Its quite a step up from PSP. After buying HOI a few weeks ago, I played one game, won, and sort of lost intrest in playing it again. I have to stop doing that, as it makes for a lot of very expensive 'demos'.

One question remains with these pictures, and basically any gfx editing for HOI. I still do not comprehend the various palletes that the game uses, and to what degree I can alter them. This is why I only made that one change to the oil imagery, and not to every place ingame where a oil icon is present (there are various smaller versions that remain as oil 'drops').

You see, the original blockhaus, from my collection is brighter white.. it was pure luck that when pasting the image into one using the default colour pallete for fortification.bmp that it did not wildly discolour or distort. I have been unable to use some other pieces of artwork because they do distort, and the game does not display them properly.

Now, the pallete to the original fortification.bmp does not contain enough blues to make a proper ocean/shoreline. It cannot be done with the existing pallete set.

If someone can tell me how to use a different pallete set then I will be able to try some things, untill then, I am stuck.

Also, I cant guarentee that I'l make anything, as I am not really playing the game anymore. I should've learned my lesson with EUII, just something about this style game that doesnt jive with me.

Thank you,

-Klesh.

I´m working on adding a beach and sea to Klesh blockhause for personal use, and Klesh, if you agree and you like it i could send it to you so you can release it. It could be used in CORE if you agree.

Well, but first, i´m having some problems. The sea looks good, but there were no yellows in the original pallete so i had to add them. I´m a newbee in graphical editing and i forgot that things are not that easy and in HoI, the yellow tones dont appear, they appear as the grey tones which they substituted. What should i do? Is there any pallete for fortifications which i have to modify? and how can i modify a pallete? in Paint shop pro palletes are saved as .pal files, but in HoI they are .bmp files... i´m lost. :(

Anybody know where I can get the 'Blockhaus' fortification image? I loved it when I had it, but had to reinstall HOI and lost the whole kit and caboodle.

Trying to rebuild my sprite collection and this one's a must!

Any pointers as to where I can get this single file would be greatly appreciated!

Never mind...

I already found it at the excellent Stony Road site. Link is here for anyone else who wants it.
