New British and Japanese Naval Units

Thanks for N!ghty for hosting the files + previews! This thread contains ALL sprite updates so far. Despite the title I probably wont do the Japanese ships as this has already been done by NewU65. Have fun.

This is the most recent updated version of the sprites. Download them to get all.

Sekinos, I love u :D :D :D , I´m your fan number one

GOOD WORK!!!!! again and again, I think I repeat myself. Lol

I posted this in another thread:

Ive been using diffeerent author´s naval sprites and they seem to have a problem. When fighting, the user made sprites, often aren´t correctly located, i mean: original sprites were one at each side of the tile so you could see both of them firing, but new sprites usually one is over the other, so big sprites don´t let you see the other. I suppose that each author uses its own coordenates to locate make this fire animations, and that is the problem, or maybe the size of the units... i dont know. Maybe it would be necessary to make some kind of rules to make the sprites look ok when fighting each other.

Sprite makers, what do you think? I know that´s not very important, but it would be fine if this could be solved. :)

sorry things have been going slow. I have exams soon :(. Anyway I'll get the British set done. I also have Japanese on the title, but since NewU65 has continued work on the Nippon ships, which are of excellent quality :) , I figured that my work there is nolonger necessary. I'll be doing the PoW BB next.

Nachinus I'm just lazy on checking A-FIRE animations :). This is easily fixed by fiddling around the origin values. However, the original game's ship battles are in my opinion weird to begin with. Especially with subs involved, I've seen ships overlap (I think), and yes, I think this problem is even worse with custom sprites.

whew! I just figured out how to make a decent engine wake in 3D. This will lessen the work alot as now walk animation can be "automated". I'm reworking the Hood, and will finish the BB soon. Its a bit hard as I can't seem to find the drawings for King George V, which makes modelling abit hard:( . The new Hood looks more "serious".

True about air units. But hey you have swarms of Yamamoto fighters in the sky already :). Too bad they are clustered in only a couple of major countries. So you say we should have a plane for every class?

Anyway, I've redone the Hood. Now its in complete ISOMETRIC and has textured wake animations too. SHould be easier to make now. I'll finish the King George and Ark Royal CV soon.

Hi, I don't want to rain on your parade but Hood wasn't a CA, she was a BC. At 42,500 tons or so and with 8x15" guns she'd certainly have beaten any other cruiser in WW2... !

Hood would be more representative of the Royal Navy's Battleship force if (as I assume) you don't want to waste the work.

Steve.
