Well thats a fair criticism, if this is the offical forum updates should be posted here.

Eochaid, Don't get me wrong I appreciate the work people have done and I admit that a lot of the commentary in this forum is fluff. I also appreciate the information we do get.

My beef is this: Paradox built these forums as a place for their customers to interact with each other (and in a limited capacity the Paradox staff). The forums are awesome. I would like to see the same community that was built around EU, EUII and HoI incorporate CK as well. If CK's main forum is here, that happens. The EU gang just jumps back and forth from one forum to another. If it is somewhere else, there is a disconnect between the EU community and the CK community.

Right now, there is a problem with updates and discussions in the Paradox CK forum. If you clip and paste the updates, that will help things. Thank you for volunteering to do that. It would be better though if I knew the designers or and eventually beta testers might help build the suspense by dropping by for the occasional comment/tidbit of information. Later (after release) I definitely would want this to be the main forum so that everything is meshed together...especially the AAR's. I'm sure at least some of them will try to span both periods...works a lot better if you can link one to the other in the same forums.

Okay, that's all I've got.:) Thanks again for the links.

Maybe because not everyone is qualified to give the information of leaders in Medieval Europe perhaps?

Hello Backpack,

all the usual fora will exist here for CK (AARs, mods...) but right now it is more convenient for the Snowball team to have all the development threads (both English & Russian) in the same place. That way they can more easily make both communities work together on some projects (as for example, on the aformentioned "Leaders & Titles" project.) Sergeï, Boris, Dmitri and the rest of the gang are reallu busy, and they'd rather be as efficient as possible.

Once the game is there, our fellow forumnites will actually have stuff to work on and the CK fora will be very busy. Until then, I fear that you'll pretty much have to rely on me to provide the links. :p

Cheers,

Kevin

PS: BTW Backpack, long time no see :)

Hello Doc,

I have to say that the eleventh century is not the period I am the most familiar with either. So all my contributions are based on researches I do on my spare time, either by going to the public library, or by searching the internet.

It takes a lot of time and efforts, but it makes up for the fact that I wasn't born with an innate extensive knowledge of 11th Century European Medieval History. And I hope it'll help make the game a little bit better for all of you.

Cheers,

Kevin

Kevin,

Thanks for the info, links and beers at the bAAR.:D We'll take whatever we can get.

I've pretty much gone lurker since getting back from Kuwait.

But why can't Sergei say so? Just drop a line in the DU and say: 'from now on updates will only be posted on the snowball forum'.
When I go by local train and the train stops at a places it shouldn't stop, I get very frustrated if I don't know the reason for the delay. But if they call out the reason for the stop, then it's easier to wait.
The same with waiting for a game. If the game is delayed, I want to know why. If no updates are posted (or posted elsewhere) I want to know why.

Well if there's anything new, I'll just post a link to it over her. That way you get the information ASAP.

Why are you so angry/depressed? It won't be any more difficult to get the info.

Is it because you'd have to register in the Snowball forum to be able to "answer" the updates? Come on, 99% of the feedback in the "development update" forum are either:

  • "Looks good"
  • "What is GH?"
  • "Woohoo, can't wait"
  • "I want screenies, NOW"

I am amazed to see how many people are so quick to get cranky and "deflated with the CK project", while I just have a few people participating in useful threads such as "Leaders & Titles" or the Scriptorium.

Well personally I get 'cranky' because I feel that we get no info whatsoever.
A link to their forum is not communicating with their fans at the paradox forum. at I seriosuly doubt it is because of time constraints. He have time to post at their own forum, and copy-pasting the same into this can hardly take hours....

Guess this answers your question. If you do ask Johan or Patric, could you please tell us why?

The only idea I have is that paradox and snowball no longer work togheter on this (and I can understand why). But then I think some from paradox should inform us.

I think we should all calm down about this for the time being. Keep in mind, its the weekend now, so Johan and Patric are unavailable to answer our questions about this. I'm sure that when they get back to work on Monday, they'll be able to explain the situation. I'm sure there's some rational explanation, and it's not as bad as it sounds.... :)

Either way the game will get published. Whether it is Snowball on it s own or in conjunction with Paradox won't matter.:)

Ah, answer!

this is what sergei said on Snowball forum in response to my question:

Sergei, can you somehow comment on that since there are already some speculations on Paradox forums that Snowball and Paradox have discontinued their partnership and moreover that you personally have been banned from there.

Just please shed some light on this issue

We are working, together with Paradox, on Crusader Kings. Nothing has changed in regards to our involvement in the project, neither legally nor from the operational point of view (i.e. work between the 2 of us goes as it went for the last 1.5 years).

Re: forums @ paradoxplaza, please talk to either P. or J. as I can only moderate these forums, not those .

Yes, it's matter. What I loved with EU was the excellent support given on this board. I have never bought a game with so good support (thanks to all people on this forum).
If the support site will be on snowballs forum, half of the post will be in russian.

From Johan:

"We simply wanted all information about the project to go through us, so that we stop giving public promises that are not held."

Drakken

and we have a quote from sergei that the relationship and the project is still a go. So it looks like there has been only minor adjustments to the CK project and the information relay process.

Thats no big deal, we can still get the updates on Snowball. Thanks for posting the quote Drakken this is one of those things that could have really gone sour fast. As all we have is our imaginations, and desire for the game the situation was such that all sorts of speculation would have been going on, seems thats been put to rest, all that is left now is the obligatory "when will beta happen" comments.
