It does make more sense for Surviving Mars than giant glass domes. Glass domes seem more like luxury housing rather than adapting to life on Mars. Although, underground vaults might be better than domes and 3D printed habitat to survive radiation and dust storms.
 
I like the glass domes; they've got a 40s futuristic look (makes me want to go read some asimov), and you get to see life happening inside.

Underground passages, banching 3-way passages, allowing colonists to visit Casinos and other buildings without passages if dome is nearby. Railroad for longer passages, transport rails from warehouses, making underused building useful. Ways to deal with explosive overpopulation issue and other stuff
