Read many solutions for this problem but nothing works.

City Skyline worked on same computer different hard drive, but not on newly setup ssd, same graphic card, Geforce 750TI newly installed driver.
It wont run from either Steam or Epic, (newly installed and verified) Starting cities.exe starts but wont allow game play from City Skylines folder ie cant load or start new game, just error about object reference not set to an instance of object.

Never see cities.exe in task manager when launching from Steam or Epic launchers.

Epic version 1.17.1-f4-fixed
Steam version 1.17.1-f4

Epic Fortnite runs fine, no firewall problems.

Any help appreciated.

I don't know everything that you tried so forgive me if I have given you something you've already tried. Have you tried searching your task manager to see what is running and from where? If the game even just partially loads that means you should be able to find a file that is using CPU and RAM. The exe might be running for a split second before stopping. Also you said you had it working in computer before. Could possibly be an old file somewhere on your computer that your computer is trying to go to instead of the proper skylines folder. I had a problem where my computer would automatically try to open an older version of skylines instead of the newer patch version. Problem stopped once I deleted the entire older skylines folder. Hopefully you find out what your problem is

Thank you for the response, I uninstalled Epic launcher, Paradox launcher, City Skylines and reinstalled …no change still wont launch.

I watched the taskmanager after clicking launch City Skylines from Epic launcher, a “bootstrapper -v2.exe“ briefly pops up then disappears “cities.exe” never shows up.

Windows 10 newly installed and updated
Geforce 750ti
16gb ram
evo 2TB ssd 1.7 TB free
No antivirus except Windows Defender
Internet via ethernet

Steam version says its running but not in taskmanager.

Attempts to launch cities.exe from Steam folder returns “An error occured while launching… app running”

while Steam says its running, no cities.exe in task manager and attempts to stop app from running using the Steam Stop button fail.

Do you have 2 city skylines on the same computer? As in when you said you had an epic and a steam version. Because if you do it Sounds like it's trying to run both the epic and steam version at the same time. Have you tried only having just one version on one computer at a time? Also noticed the other 7 tabs of your steam client web helper but I don't know if that is normal or not. Unfortunately I am not as experienced as others on here so hopefully you end up finding your problem or someone on here knows exactly what you are doing wrong, if you are doing something wrong.

No dont have cities 2, hardware wouldnt support it.
I first tried on Epic after much frustration tried Steam and got basically same result …nothing.

Working thru Steam discussions on launch probs.

What a mission!

Wasnt expecting a fresh install to be such a painful experience.

I spent hours attempting to get this game to run on clean install on new os and new ssd and no luck.
Enough, no Cities 2 in the future for me.

Steam version say 379 hrs, but no more.

so far

ran DISM /restorehealth
is completed
ran sfc it found integrity errors and fixed them
ran SFC again ok no errors
downloaded and ran VC_redist.x86
finally got Windows update UPDATED complete
deleted paradox appdata files from one user
ran cc.exe and removed Paradox launcher registry references
ran Steam as administrator
had to allow msi paradox launcher to install
NO change still no Cities.exe under the user account I deleted all the appdata paradox files.

Still no joy!

Im having so much fun with this app!

Please gather these informational files, and attach them here:

...\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities Skylines\Cities Data\output_log.txt
[Epic location]\Cities Skylines\Cities Data\output_log.txt

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
