HI

the lap top you need to get should include the following

1) decent cpu speed and memory

2) screen that can support 1024x768 resolution

3) a good video and sound card with decent memory and before you choose wich ones make sure they are directx compliant

4) DO NOT get win ME!! stay away from that OS stick with win98

keep in mind those 3 points when shoping around and my advice as a gamer is go for a desktop instead if you can. but if you travel alot then disregard that advice :))

Thanks. Do you mean there are laptops which cannot use directX ?
I won't get ME, I read to much stories about it. I wonder what is best, Win2000 or W98.
I will disregard your advice because I already have 2 desktops (on one screen). But I need a extra laptop for my work.

But I also like to hear from paradox, if there are special things to look for regarding EU2. Or do I have to wait until it comes out.

And you are sure you want a laptop? They are useful cuz of their portability. But I still prefer desktop PC's...More of a powerhouse in general. IF you want a laptop with the same specs as a desktop pc, you pay almost double the price

Nothing really special for EU2.
It should run on an average Processor (300 mhz plus I would reccomend) and should run in 64 MB but 128 MB would handle it better. There is no need for a dedicated 3D graphics card. Anything that can handle resolutions of 800, 1024 or 1280 will do fine.
It will run on Win 2000 but if you are going to use the laptop for other games then I would suggest a Win 98 SE will be more universally compatable.

I want them both. Because I need an extra laptop for my work.
I know how expensive laptops they are, my old one was more expensive then my present desktop, although it had much less specifications. But that's no problem for me. I hope I am not making you jealous :D

You write there is no need for a dedicated 3D graphics card. But how does a better graphic card affects the game ? Will it make no difference or will the game run faster, because of a better graphic card. Or is it, that more memory should be better for a faster running game ?

A better graphics card will move 2D and 3D objects faster. However EU1 and 2 are not graphics intensive so little speed change will be seen.
More memory will make a noticable difference - especially if you go from 64MB to 128MB for a game that is supposed to run in 64MB. It reduces the file swapping that will otherwise take place.
I have a game that was supposed to run in 64MB but it virtually ran off the Hard Drive instead of the memory. That caused a large slowdown in speed. Upping my memory to 128MB made a great difference.
