Following the chonky 2021.7 launcher release, we have a pretty pared down beta this time around:

Fixes
  • Fixing styling and layout bugs with the "install" button (standalone mode)
  • Fixed error messaging in case you suffer an SDL crash
  • Improved error messaging if the launcher lacks file system privileges to access its settings files

Changes
  • Parallelization of Steam calls to get mods status - Should improve performance for players that have mods from Steam Workshop
  • Better handling of various error conditions on "Open modding tools" button perusal

Would getting an option to hide and/or remove this from my launcher that I launch from yet another launcher be possible so I can have a rather CLEAN experience? Its already possible to opt out of 'personalized content', which doesn't seem to change much (if anything) here.

I want what the last launcher had, with the mod lists and dlcs instead of having them in a side tab list. Probably having a "Favourite mods" in the Home screen. For example; I like playing Kaiserreich in HOI4, so there should be a Favourite/Recently used section so it is quicker access to the mods instead of going onto the playsets and scrolling to the mods. Sure, there is a search bar but who uses it?

And sorry for hijacking your comment, Sephiroth

Hi! The example you gave is the exact reason we introduced playsets - make one for each setup of mods you like to play and switch between them in the drop-down under the play button!

How can I fix the never-ending loading mods issue? I left the launcher running overnight and nothing is working

Clearly, eternal loading is not the best user experience - But what type of loading: Is it downloading mod updates? Is it rendering the mods list? Is it loading all the mods or only some of them? Are you using Steam Workshop mods or PDX Mods derived ones? What operating system are you using?

Have you tried some or any of the following:
  • Restart Steam and the Launcher
  • Reverting to the non-beta version to see if the behaviour persists?

I restarted the launcher, but what is rc3? There isn't a thread in the general discussion about it.
