One problem which was somewhat apparent in EU2, and may very well be even more so in CK, is that new major towns emerge over time (such as Stockholm). In EU2 there was no function that solved the problem (either by automatically updating the city name or changing it through some sort of event command), so my question is... will there be one in CK? I'd really hate to see provinces in the north and east (where I think the problem is most apparent) dominated by not-so-dominant-anymore towns...

Well, I dont belive that any player, as an example, Portugal or Spain wont it capital city reduce into half.

Im prety shure that events like -10000 people, here and there, could deal whit that isue, if people agre, that is... wont to see their shainy capital cities falling apart.

(Whay would someone wont to see it cities shrinking, or losing COTs ;) ? )

This is one feature I hope that makes it to the final version. Hundreds of new towns were found during the timespan of CK, and it would be just plain boring to have the same urban centers through 1066 to 1453.

I hope this feature makes it in as well, I mean after 1204 Constantinople lost importance, and population, writers of the time, remark on how the city was in ruins, and few people walked the streets....

Also Sergei hinted that where ever the court was, was the capital, and the court could move.....

But what if... after manzikert, which rome won, they exterminated all turks, took egypt, mecka etc.. basically to pre-islam borders?

No declining constantinople there :D

I guess similar cases could be made for other developing/declining centres, after all, changes never happen "just because".

I, too, hope that new towns will emerge over time - after all, Lübeck, queen of the Hansa, was only founded in the 12th century.

New cities were often founded by the local sovereigns. ("I want a new city." A flag is stuck into swampy ground. "Here will be the town hall.") In the old ASCII game Medieval Lords you could invest in your provinces' cities. Maybe it is possible here, too?

Hrm, a dynamic urban growth rate that would work similar to how CoTs do in EU. Based on your prestige, economic and financial might, certain cities in your realm getting a bonus to their growth rate, or perhaps even new cities formed in critical jeopolitical junctures.

On another note, to completely exterminate Turks, Byzantine player would need to march into PTI ;)

No, I didn't mean Constantinople start to decline just because its 1204, I wouldn't want to control the world, and see my capital go to peices.
I meant I hope the feature is implented, so in case cities decline, my events caused by the player/AI, it would make the game more real. For example, I play France, and in constant wars with the HRE, Colone is destroyed, I would hope, somehow this could be reflected in the cities decline.

;)

Anyway, i think you got it there, as simple as it sounds:

Based on your prestige, economic and financial might, certain cities in your realm getting a bonus to their growth rate,

Otoh its either in or not already since the game is getting finished & polished :)

But even when Constantinople declined, it still remained the largest and most important city in the area, so why would it need to be changed? Perhaps Edirne eclipsed it temporarily when the latter became the Ottoman capital, but that was only for a short period - and who's to say that Edirne and Constantinople are going to be in the same province in CK anyway?

All I meant was cities declined, and I hope CK represents that.

I hope to be able to found cities as king, but not to run them as a mayor, to put it that way.

If I want city running simulations, I hear there's a series called "sim" something. :D

This is a very good idea IMO. Hopefully it's not too late. Maybe CK2 :)
