Hard to tell what's going on, but I finally fired up CKII with my new monitor now that Sword of Islam is out and the game crashes after I hit play on the launcher. I'm not running any mods, and just have the DLC checked. The game starts, I see the CKII icon before it flashes to full-screen, then crashes and gives me the win7 error message.

Any ideas?

Using some pretty awesome google-fu, I saw 6 posts down that I needed to delete my settings.txt file. I'm a genius, and will leave this here for posterity :D

So, I think I have isolated more precisely what causes the crash. I have this happen on my laptop.

1. I play on my docking station and set the resolution to 1920 X 1080 on an external monitor. Exit CKII.
2. Remove laptop from docking station.
3. Start CKII. Laptop screen resolution is smaller than external monitor, 1600 by something. Crash ensues.
4. Delete settings.txt file.
5. Restart CKII, things are fine (although I have to disable all of the hints again.)

Going the other way from a smaller resolution to a larger resolution does not have a problem although I think I have to manually tell CKII that the screen is larger.

The point is that CKII does not gracefully handle starting itself on a monitor which has a smaller resolution then is specified in the settings.txt file, this probably needs to be coded more gracefully.

Thanks, I've passed on those details to the folks backstage, hopefully they can duplicate and fix that issue by next patch.
