Hey guys,

A new EST time game is being setup.

The game is being scheduled for 18.00 EST on Wednesdays.

The game is opened to players of all levels, so don't be afraid if you are not experienced with mp.

If you are interested post here or directly at the game's thread at the Blood and Iron forums:

http://www.invisionplus.net/forums/index.php?mforum=bloodandiron&showforum=19

Hope to hear from you!

So what time in CET or GMT areas?

GMT would be 23.00.

It's not a very friendly GMT game. :(

Does it interest you?

No worries, I didn't expect that you would be at that time.

However if you are interested in joining an mp game check out the forums above in my first post. At least you should register there. :)

Anybody else?

The Blood and Iron forums are down. Have been for a day. I fixed my regedt32 problem and got Victoria up and running. I haven't downloaded ICQ yet. And I prob won't get home until 6PM EST on the nose (18:00 EST)

We can delay the start for 30 mins if that would help you Gabe?

I doubt you'll have to wait *THAT* long. It would help if you PM'd me your ICQ so the moment I get it I can just shoot you an IM and we could get started. I updated to 1.03 and then installed 1.03c. Is that okay?

Well, an extra 30 mins should allow you adequate time to settle down at home etc, because I am sure you will be rushing a bit just to get there. So no sweat.

I have added you to my ICQ contact list already, just searched for your nickname, and also my ICQ number is in my sig. ;)

There is a mod that needs to be downloaded and installed. However since I may get in trouble for hosting it and providing you with the url now, I will wait till you get on ICQ and will give it to you then.

Cya later.

Ouch! +12 GMT you say?

That would mean the game would in fact be starting @ around 11/11.30am on Thursday morning for you.

Would that suit, and furthermore what country would you like if you can?

If you are keen sainte-therese, then sign-up at the thread in the first post.

The following popular countries are still available:

UK, Austria, Two Sicilies (or another Italian state), Ottomans, Sweden.

What we would like first of all is a UK player, and then after that any other nation really. A UK player is very important in MP.

First, before I actually commit myself here, I would like to emphasize that I hope that if for whatever reason my PC does not take to it very well, others would be understanding and forgiving. That said, I'm willing to try it, and if it does not work, I give my sincere apologies in advance, and hope that should a problem arise, there are no hard feelings.

I would prefer to play as Switzerland, if that is an option. But, I have no objection to playing as UK.

I assume this is vanilla 1.03c?

not to but in, but just a suggestion from my experience. If you have a Russia, you MUST have a UK. to have human RUS and AI UK is far too imbalanced.

personally, i think taking switzerland would be a waste of bandwidth.

sainte-therese,

Switzerland would be a waste of bandwith because it is sandwiched between France and Germany + the opportunity to do stuff would be very very low. The country is small, landlocked and any aggressive moves would probably lead to Germany/France getting involved.

UK or another power gives you the opportunity to shape the world that is the game we are playing. Since time has moved on to around 1843, playing as another nation (possibly) means less opportunties.

If you were to choose UK, then I would only advise you to do so if you have already played them in SP or if you are comfortable with this choice.

How and ever, the choice is of course entirely yours....

The UK is an organizational nightmare. Plus, if your experiencing doubts about your computer, the moment the UK and Russia mobilize we'll all CTD. But Russia's expansion in our game (Persia, East Africa, Pacific Islands) needs a human UK player who is not only experienced, but enjoys the micromanagement.

If you're not that type of person, I would strongly recommend: Austria, Sardinia-Piedmont/Two Sicilies, Japan, or the Ottomans. Japan shouldn't have had the Dutch Letter yet so there's still room for rapid industrialization, plus they have claimed a huge swath of colonies, much to my horror. The appeal of being "above the fray" and not getting involved in any major events can be appealing, but the Italians arent dragged into anything if you form Italy quickly.

BTW, Noddy, I'm thinking of forming Italy myself if it doesn't form by 1855. Thoughts?

But that would not be the case if I were a smaller country? At this point, I suppose I say I'm up to saying I can play, but before I finally agree and promise to it, I'd just like everyone playing to be aware that I do have some doubts about the PC I'll be probably be using, and that if it renders me unable to play, that is just what happens. If the other players are not comfortable about it, thats fine, I understand. (Is there a away just to test this beforehand?) Also, no matter what, I would be unable to play when I'm away seeing relatives for thanksgiving (Im an American) and Christmas.

But Russia's expansion in our game (Persia, East Africa, Pacific Islands) needs a human UK player who is not only experienced, but enjoys the micromanagement.

I could deal with it, but as Im not experienced in MP, Ill go with Sweden, despite the reservations I have sharing a border with Russia.

So, if everyone is "cool" with the issues and concerns I've mentioned, Ill play as Sweden.

Under the Spanish flag? If so discuss that in the forum in your diplomatic thread.

If you want to play as Sweden, then so be it.
Just go ahead and sign-up at the Blood & Iron forums. :)
