Lighter color for deeper depths make shallows stand out all the more. Also, dark outlines for shallows makes for a better contrast towards mainland and islands. That is our reasoning. This is not unheard of on sea maps either.
Thank you very much. We have gone a lot of rounds on UI design, and we keep working on it. And then we'll work through it again during playtesting!
The game is complex enough as it is, really (though not by Paradox standards). It will just be a chore of you have to fight the user interface along with your foes.
If it playable enough for screenshots, wouldn't it be playable enough for demo release?
Off the record, will the game require audio card to run or will it work without? Or do I need to start building another computer to play NWAC when it's released
Hehe, somehow I doubt that . Still the game already looks more accessible and streamlined than Harpoon and JFC. It will be interesting to see how they handle some of the engine design questions past the UI. If they handle that as well as the UI we could have a very fun, realistic but playable game .
I'm still very hopeful that aircraft don't have infinite reloadable ammunition from the carrier and that RFA type ships are included to do resupply at sea. I do know that even a "hot launch" VL cell can be reloaded at sea for instance... though of course that depends on weather.

First off you seriously don't have any form of audio output on your computer? Secondly you don't have to modify your computer you can just use an USB headset as these have sound cards built into them.
Like most games, you should be able to play it without the sound. It will just be a much less satisfying experience, and you may miss the clues that the sound effects give you.
The downloadable demo release will not come before after the game is gold, as is common.
A demo we can play in a controlled environment (with some stuff missing) is some weeks off.

Yeaps I don't have any sort of audio coming out of this comp, the motherboard is supposed to have integrated audio card and it is apparently broken. Thanks for the hint about headset, I'll give it a try.

Well, if I manage to play games like Crysis with no sounds and no subtitles I doubt that an RTS game will be a big trouble Perhaps NWAC could be good reason to get working motherboard..

Most computers should allow you to plug your headset into a normal jack or USB and get sound out of it that way. I'd be very surprised if it didn't!!!
As for no sound not being a biggy in an RTS I personally can play a FPS without sound but not an RTS. Simply because the sheer scale of the RTS means that warnings from units your not looking at on the map at that moment in time can be seriously handy!!!
It looks better than I expected - but it also looks less demanding on hardware than I expected. So it seems like you are going for a fast game even on crappy computers - and yet pleasing to look at.
Are you trying to make a game that looks simple - and which main focus is on strategy? Or you still just didn't get to making the fancy stuff like shadows and rust and other Crysis 2 level of looks?
looks awesome! i hope there is a free view, like u can see underwater if u want ect too! and animations of planes/rockets being brought up to deck before firing ect
