steam just downloaded a patch for the game.

Now when I start, the Animated Centurian no longer displays. It is blank with just the UI.

There is also no pointer, I had to alt-tab out and back in for the pointer to show up.

When I start the prologue the narration starts to play but there is no "movie"

Again, I had to alt-tab out and back in for the movie to show up.

Once the intro is over and the map shows up, the Hints never show up. Thus the UI is grayed out and there is nothing I can do to progress forward.

The pointer becomes invisible as well.

Anyone else having this problem?

And of course, if the game is released and it has so much as a single problem, bug, or glitch...the two of you (and many others) would be on here screaming bloody murder about wasting your money, the ethics of using the commercial public as a final open Beta, and how there are no good games left these days because everything is 'rushed to release.'

I guess there's just no keeping some people happy. They complain if the game is late, they complain if the game is early (and unpolished). It appears that, despite the fact that a cursory search of the reviews and internet forum posts for ANY game released in the past ten years will clearly show that no game is ever released in a pristine state, some of you still expect no less than absolute perfection for your $35.

Way to blow it out of proportion. I dont expect a perfect game but if i'd have known that i would have to wait a month to play it (or even more, who knows how much longer it will be delayed) then i would've spent the money on something else. It's already been delayed twice and both times i had to find out about that by going to the steam game purchase screen. I appreciate that they're trying to fix bugs, i really do but i have no idea at this point when the game is going to be released and after forking out £30 for it i feel that i atleast deserve that.

Yup, some people are worried about the release ( NO SOTS II THIS TIME PLEASE ) and come here on the forums to ask about problems. So yeah there is not much good games left, that's why some people support Paradox and cooperators, and well sometimes come here to "complain a bit". Sometimes these "complaints" leads to good results. So please understand our point of view also before throwing pointless comments at us.

Well, if we complain about a two day delay, what should we do about Blizzard titles? ;)

Obviously, none of us is happy about the delay, but if they can come with an early patch, it means they care. Who wants another medieval 3?

If by 'complaint' you mean referencing specific technical/performance issues in a way that Neocore's devs can respond to and account for, then yes, such 'complaints' can lead to good results.
But general kvetching about release date setbacks does absolutely no good for anyone. You think Neocore or Paradox were happy about delaying the game? You think they did it because they wanted to? No, they set back the release day to work on problems so that the game could be more polished upon launch. What possible good does it do anyone when you come on the forum and complain about 'delay after delay'. You think it makes them work faster? Reconsider the marketing plan for their launch?

I'm sorry, sir. But what was 'pointless' was your absolutely unhelpful complaints about 'delay after delay.' My comment actually had a point, which was to remind you that unspecific complaints about things that cannot be directly controlled by the developers (such as a release date setback) don't do anyone any good. They only come off as petulant whinging in the face of unwelcome news.

Dear Clegane76

Maybe you fail to understand my earlier comments. I shall translate it to you: Dear Neocore, why you have delayed the game without telling us about the problems. I was so eager to play this game today, but felt little dissapointed when I could not. So please tell us what is wrong, and will it be released tomorrow?

Besides, my comments, or anything that I wrote, was not ment for you. So please keep your comments to yourself, trolling is not going to help here.

How in all of creation is this:

...a translation of this?
I predict some launch problems. 27.1 supposed to be launch day on Steam...now its 28.1 Delay after Delay i see

If you'd simply written the former statement the first time, I'd have never called you on being a pointless whiner.

Furthermore...you do realize the ridiculousness of asking me to 'keep my comments to myself' when that's all I was asking you to do in the first place? See...if you'd just kept your complaints to yourself, then I'd have been quiet also and...like magic...this whole annoying conversation could have been avoided. Take your own advice next time.

My biggest problem with pushing the date back, is that they just do it. They don't say anything. I suspect this is also what bothers AdAstra and Pilkie.

Personally a "it will be done when its done" policy is the best one imo. There's no sense rushing a game that isn't finished or is a buggy mess. I don't want another paradox published sequel to be half-baked like sots2 was. Heck, it's not just paradox. Look at Elemental & Stronghold 3. Too many potentially great games have been huge disappointments for niche strategy fans lately.

...and good community communication is always a good thing. I do see some neocore people posting in this forum - but anything like release date pushes really should be announced. Like that blizzard guy said. "No one will remember that it was late, only if it was great"

So now I am a pointless whiner... You are insulting me through intrawebz. I am admired! The truth is still, that my comments adressed to Neocore, are none of your personal business Clegane76. You have not helped me, or any of the people who asked same question why the game is delayed, and has not recieved any answers. Your behaviour towards other users and me on this forum is inapprorpriate and insulting.

I was going to gratify this with a lengthy response, but opted for brevity and retreat before trying to communicate with you gives me an aneurysm.
In short: Go back and re-read your posts. You were the one to accuse me of being 'pointless' first. Further, you didn't ask any questions about the delay. You only complained about it. That's why you irritated me in the first place. If your original post had actually been a question about why the game was delayed instead of a completely pointless complaint ('Delay after delay I see!') I'd have never said a word. Finally, if you don't want your comments to be 'someone else's business' then send them to Neocore in an email instead of posting on a public forum. All of us would find that preferable.

But goodbye now. I leave you to puzzle over your own words in a vain attempt to understand them better than you have allowed me to do.

 I irritated you by complaining about the game release date. best laughs today!

Oh and by the way patches did not solve the issue with Sulla, and I still dont know when the game is released. Hopefully Neostaff will enlighten us soon.

** Okay guys lets get back to the talking about the game or discussing any issues you are having. No more winding other users up with upsetting comments, intended or otherwise. **

& those of you that have an issue with this message, do NOT post a response. Either PM, another moderator or an administrator with any gripes. Its against the rules and will get you an infraction.

Happy posting...

Still can't capture civil war provinces in the prologue, was hopping to finish it one more time before release. The Caracalla province for example, I defeat their army and capture the fort and the village I think it is. But the province stays gray (neutral). The structures in the province have the SPQR flag and say I have ownership. I can't award it as a fief and but I can improve the structures in them. I cannot continue the game.
All other faction provinces are conquerable, this only seems to apply to the roman faction.

Sorry to hear you guys are trouble with the steam version of KAII so far the gg version both Prologue & regular campaign is perfect, runs really smooth and I haven't noticed any game breaking bugs or glitches will update you once I come across any problems, another thing is I don't understand how steam gets all the attention with patches & updates ect it would be really nice if Paradox shared the wealth with other gaming stores :)

The Alt-tab to see movie error is back - with the full version. :( Because of it I cannot go beyond the starting movie for the main campaign.

For some reason the dialog after the movie does not display.

The game also switches my windows 7 display/theme to basic.

[Edit]
It seems turning off "GUI affected by Resolution" or something to that effect in Options->Videos fix the problem.

It is the check box right below the resolution setting.

Movies are fine for me, but I have to alt-tab to bring the cursor back. Seems to disappear at the start of each movie, and whenever a tutorial message pops up.
