New Player

Hi everyone. I bought HOI 2 several months ago and I’ve been playing it on and off but now I’d like to try the multiplayer games; however, I cannot connect to “valkyrienet.” I keep on receiving an error that says: “Retrieving list of channels, please wait…try 1 (2,3,4, etc).” Can someone tell me what my problem is? I have been able to log on before and I have patched the game up to v1.3a and I have a cable connection.

I’ve read some of the posts online and many people seem to pre-organize games. If possible could one of you kind souls help me with some unfamiliar game concepts and introduce me to the online community. Thanks.

I've been experiencing the same. Apparently, valkyrienet has been down for some time now. Hopefully it will be back soon but until then, there is a chatroom link where you can find other players posted as sticky-thread in the HoI2-Multiplayer section. Look and you will find.

Vnet has been down since the 20th IIRC - P is on christmas break it seems and we probably have to wait 1 more week or so.... :/. Complain to them at support@paradoxplaza.com - the more people do it the better - maybe they will FINALLY do something about this abysmal service with vnet.

I dont know if its me but I think nothing has changed since EU2? It always happened?

Thank you Fiendix for the links, they are very helpful. Do you have any links to air, land, or sea strategy? Or does anyone have any links to useful sites outside of the forums? And if Vnet is down, how and where can you play online games?

Well for HoI2 seems when Vnet down people usualy post on forum to pick up people. And then its IP address connect wich in my opion best way to play game since Vnet seems to want to drop people after long time playing. So once you have found a group of players during your game time hours then join game through IP addy the host has posted or sent to you from Email / MSN/ AIM / ICQ wich ever works best.
