To what extent will the new portraits represent the traits, diseases, scars etc. of a character?

Will:
  • Having a disease make a character look sickly?
  • Diseases with more pronounced physical effects like Leprosy be represented?
  • Will facial expressions change based on traits? (Example, lunatic, wroth, possessed etc.)
  • Will dwarf, giant, clubfoot, strong, brawny etc. have an effect on portraits?
  • Will inbreeding cause characters to look more inbred?

And now that we've seen portraits show a character's entire torso:
  • Will more scarification like missing arm, missing leg, mangled etc. also be represented?
  • Will women who are pregnant appear pregnant?
  • Are we going to see our characters wear full sets of armor when leading armies now?
  • Could pets be represented in portraits, like a dog, cat, owl etc.?
These were just some things I could think of off the top of my head, but I hope 3D portraits mean we can see more of these kinds of things to differentiate characters, not less.

I think ( and hope for) yes to all of these.

In CK2 they worked a bit at the end to make characters that had the fat trait appear fat, etc. I think those kinds of things were research for CK3. And Henrik spoke a lot about the character models and how traits like Ugly and Attractive affected the character model. I'm curious to see how, and if they did a good job of it, but it seems like these are things they definitely worked on.

That's interesting, I certainly hope they follow through with that. I think the transition to 3D models is a great opportunity to expand on these features.

I would just like to add another thing now that we have heard that these characters will be animated:
  • Will a character's animation change, especially during certain events, because of traits like craven, brave, etc.?

I'm honestly less concerned about portraits changing to reflect statuses than I am about the variety and level of detail: I would gladly sacrifice the above if it meant a greater range of clothes, armor, hairstyles, and beards to ensure that one's vassals can be visually distinguished from each other, and can be immediately told apart from the vassals of, say, the neighboring kingdom of a different culture.

I really want both, and I don't really see it as a case of either or though. Later in CK2's development, they did start to shift toward these kinds of things with adding fat, malnourished, scarring, war paint, harelip etc. and they still continuously added new portrait sets, they even added an Egyptian portrait set with CK2's latest update.
