Loved the sounds pack, great job!

I don't think it is from my end, I think it is their FTP server...

I went to some of the other hosted sites, and they are having the same problem.

However, their HTTP server is working fine at the moment, so for a short while I will make it available from there as well.

This is just a temporary solution....

Sorry for the inconvenience....

EDIT: As of ten after 7 Eastern USA time, it it back up on the FTP server, so please try there before the HTTP server... it should be faster from the FTP server....

Well, if I had the game myself, I could probably help you out a bit more, as I have the software to do such editing as well... ;)

I like to see new sounds for Navy selection .. maybe a bosums (sp?) whistle or navy bell sound? I did a quick search but couldnt find any appropriate ones.

Also noticed that there can be sequential sounds with the same prefix but with different numbers ie xxxx1.wav xxxx2.wav do these play randomly? Would be nice to have a few in each one to keep it from sounding the same each time.

Loved the new battle sounds by the way ... I had my 5.1 system cranked up and it shook the walls :)

Yeah, those plane sounds can be pretty intense if you have several squadrons doing bombing runs all at once. . . heh. . .

I already have a couple of sounds for ship selection in mind. I'll do some testing with them and I'll let you all know when I have a new sound to download.

The problem is that BOTH the surface ships AND the subs use the same sound. This is too bad, since I had some excellent sub sounds I could have used.

If someone knows a way around this (editing a text file to allow for a separate sound for ships and subs) please let me know. . .

So until then, I'll have to use a generic "ship" sound that won't sound too goofy if you select either a ship or sub. . .

Have fun!

Check the main HoI forum links thread. There is a site made by Procer that looked rather professional, think he will host that as well.

Thx for the comments. Sure i will gladly host that file or any similar files.

For anyone interested, there's is an option on the Donwloads page where every registered (for security) user can add a download. Click on "add download" once logged, then type in the url where the file is along with author info, version, etc.., and i'll download the file from the admin area, upload it to my server, and then post the download link.

See you around.

Procer: Thanks for the kind offer and instructions :)

To everyone: I have finally settled on a sound for "Naval Selection". I needed to choose a sound that would not be irritating, especially if you have a lot of ships in your navy.

I was going to use a "General Quarters" sound, but after a few minutes, it got old, real fast. . .

So, I decided to use a "ship movement" sound. Now, if you click on a sub or surface ship, you will hear a "ship moving" sound, instead of the default "drum beat".

I'll send the new sound to Bismarck's site today. The file is 224 kb zipped.

Have fun!
