Hi all

Well, I looked at your tutorial sekinoss and was able to fix that center problem. Now I know what the "origin" thing does. Been trying to figure that thing out since the beginning. So thank you for that.
I have also added contrast to the pal file. Not that it made any differences in detail as far as I can tell but oh well.
Note: In game, the sprites are alot brighter then what it is outside, so I didn't add brightness.

Lol, I can't believe I missed that [ symbol in the in front.
It is fixed now though.

And I use POVray and Photoshop to make the sprites.

glad my tutorial can help. you use POVray??? that's like one of the best program for raytracing! Photoshop's feature rich too. ALso you said something about wake animation (which I assume is water wakes). Well I've come up with a way to make an-alright kinda wake. DOwnload an avi below. It's not really good and takes a bit of brushing but that's the best I can come up with. Basically just take your frames (which here is of form AVI) then get a brush with size 5-6 and antialias and start making wakes in spots (clicks). It's hefty but not that much work (all can be finished 5 minutes for a particular animation). How's your idea?

Hi

I finished two more IJN sprites. One for the carrier and cruiser.
Shokaku class carrier and Takao class heavy cruiser.

Now there is a problem with the cruiser, that I can't seem to fix. It flickers constantly when it move around and it doesn't when stopped or firing. I have checked the sprite files several time and there's nothing wrong with it.

I uploaded it anyway hoping someone could find a solution to this. Does it flickers or is it just my game?

BUG!!
New365, the DD sprite had a bug when moving North. A flickering white square appeared under the ship. I checked the bmp file and noticed that at the right end of the animation strip the blue blackround was white! I simply coloured it with paint with the same blue as the rest of the background and worked perfectly.

Hope this helps.:D

I can´t download your latest 2 sprites. Yes, i right click and select download from..., but i get a error message saying that geocities isn´t available

me too, i cant download any of them.

Hi all

Ok, thanks for the report, I fixed the akizuki now.

The problem was that the files were in lower case and the one I have on top were upper case. I quess they couldn't find the files with the name in upper case. I always thought that cases don't matter, I guess I was wrong.

All the links are now fixed with the correct case.

Btw, I posted this in another thread:

Ive been using diffeerent author´s naval sprites and they seem to have a problem. When fighting, the user made sprites, often aren´t correctly located, i mean: original sprites were one at each side of the tile so you could see both of them firing, but new sprites usually one is over the other, so big sprites don´t let you see the other. I suppose that each author uses its own coordenates to locate make this fire animations, and that is the problem, or maybe the size of the units... i dont know. Maybe it would be necessary to make some kind of rules to make the sprites look ok when fighting each other.

Sprite makers, what do you think? I know that´s not very important, but it would be fine if this could be solved.

I`ve got a different problem: after installing the Japanese ship sprites, they all show in pitch black. Also, one American plane sprite (by YT) is now showing garbled colourwise.

I used the old Yamato and (I think) also the Japanese destroyer from N!ghty`s site before without problems.

Edit: seems I forgot the palette sprites ... never mind. :)

Hi

Ok, I fixed the destroyer again! I noticed that there are weird fringes around the edge when moving north. Its barely noticable unless you look since it is almost the same color as the water. Still it is an annoyance. So it fixed and sorry for the inconvience.

I also finish the IJN last ship to complete the set. Not sure what class but is modelled after the I-15 submarine.

The link is at the top

I think the flickering is most likely because of wrong size/number of frames in the BMP and SPR. Be sure to check the original size, no of frames etc (you know the drill). Anyway, you haven't respond to my suggestion on water wakes :( which is several posts above. Anyway, goood collection of IJN ships you have here New.

Cruiser fixed

Ok, still don't know what the problem was with the cruiser, but luckily I fixed it now. What I did was resize the original canvas size (105x75) with 110x80 and it worked, no more flickering. I guess the problem was that the game can't read odd pixel amount for images?
Updated link at top

Anyway, sekinoss, I tried to do the wake thing you suggested once, but gave up on that. Did it for one direction, but couldn't stand having to do that for all direction. I like to just have the whole thing animated and render in the 3d program and not have to edited it with an image editor.

Any news or previews on some new great sprites from you ?
