Hello, I've recently come back to CK2 after a long hiatus and decided to give this mod a try - since everyone says it is amazing - and was wondering which scenario and character would be fun/interesting to play as? I've only watched the first 2 seasons of Game of Thrones but I don't really intend to read the novels (finishing up Jordan's Wheel of Time series atm) so I'm not too fussed about spoilers. Will the game be completely incomprehensible/unenjoyable if I don't have a more thorough knowledge of the world of Westeros?

Many thanks in advance for any and all help!

An incomplete knowledge of the universe will definitely hurt your enjoyment.

I'd say Robb Stark in Clash of Kings is a good start if you already know how to play well, Robert Baratheon in Robert's rebellion is good if you are new to CK2 overall, and Aegon Targaryen is good if you like roleplaying. I'd also recommend the ironborn if you enjoy viking motifs and mechanics, as well as Astapor if you want to try out the slave mechanics and the east.

I tend to prefer starting out weak and then becoming stronger/taking over. Is there any character like that apart from Daenarys?
Not many among characters who were particularly notable in cannon. I'd suggest starting as a duke (Roose Bolton is fun for story reasons, Roderick the Reader is interesting if you like Ironborn, Tarly may be too strong for you but is another option).

If you want a count, I'd suggest a random count in the Reach as probably the best place to build a powerbase; Redwyne is a 1-county duke but is very strong, while Merryweather in Longtable (?) or Roxton in the Ring both have very good potential for expansion. You can also do a random count in the north, but the travel distances seem slower.

Essos I'm much less sure about for recommendations.

Of course, any start date other than the Greyjoy Rebellion or the War of the Five Kings.
