Okay, quick question here. I am trying out a New World Order in which the entire world is broken into duchies and im the Duke of Latium. That means that the pope is my vassal. My goal in the game is to prevent the schism but for some reason the pope doesn't appear as a pentarch even though he controls Rome. How do I make it so that he is the Pentarch but im still his Duke? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: also why does the Papal State always have to be independent? I want it as my capital

While I can't answer your second question, the Priest in Rome won't become a Pentarch while you're just a duke. Pentarchy title is duchy tier, and that would make him independent from you, you have to get some Kingdom first.
