Hello

I am technologically declined, so bear with me....
I own HOI, and love it. That is how I learned of EU II. So I ran out and found a copy today, brought it home with great anticipation, and now the stupid thing will not install. When I insert the disk, It brings up the start screen......I click on 'Install' and it does nothing....well the disk appears to be spinning, but it is not doing anything else. Closing it at this point is very difficult....cpu usage trouble etc.

I have a hp pavilion, running on windows XP...and autorun is activated on my cd rom drive.

Anyone have any clue as to what I should do?

Thanks

Okay now that we are in the support forum, The first thing I need to know is what version of the game you have.
You can tell that by the publishers logo on the CD.
There should be 3 of them, Paradox will be one what are the other ones?

If you want to get a head start you can look through the self help guide that is stickied to the top of the support forum.

So it is the SF version, did you get it with CotN?
Or as stand alone EU2?

1) What drive letter is your CD rom?
2) If you hit Ctrl-Alt-del after the first time you try and run the install, does the install program show in the aplications or processes tab?
3) Does your system have an Intel CPU or and AMD?
4) Does the account your are trying to install it on, have administrator rights?

whew, tough questions, told you I am a cpu novice....here goes my try..
My cd rom drive is E.
when I try to install, the cd rom light flickers, and on my task bar next to the start button, shows AFI autorun working....or something to that effect. Clicking on control alt delete, gives me a pop up saying the standard not responding, do you want to end message. But I have to repeat a few times to get it to stop.....seems like the whole system freezes are at least slows.

It is an intel chip.

I have know idea about administrator rights. Not sure how to check.

Sorry, not making this much easier am I?

Well if you only have one account, then you have Admin rights on it.

I would suggest contacting Strategy First tech support, since they are the ones who write their own installer program. It may have something to do with Copy protection.

I have the same problem. I reformatted my computer and reinstalled XP lately, so I thought I'd try out EUII again. It had previously been on this computer.

I'm wondering if a Windows Update lately has made the copy protection go wonky so you can't install it.

Again, you will have to contact SF as they write the installer program.
