Hi

Been playing EUII for about 2 months and would like to join a MP game, one night a week, Monday to Thursday night preferable starting after 18:00 GMT

Current patch 1.08.

My PC is connected to internet trough another PC could connect directly if need be (hope this makes sense).

Hope to hear from somebody who would like to have a rookie in their game for a laugh and trashing about.

Cheers
Emil

PS: ICQ Number to follow

Welcome, Emilgud. :)

Given the way you connect to the internet, it would be a good idea to have a test run with someone. I would offer to help myself, but I'm snowed under with work I need to finish before I go on holiday on Saturday.

EDIT: Oh, and almost everyone plays with the latest beta patch on top of v1.08.

emil,

Good to have you.

The ICQ number is the most important thing. Once you have that, mine is 273839083. I'll run it down for you.

I suggest reading Jarkko's excellent guide for new players here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127297

There are also economic and warfare guides floating around, but many of them are outdated and some of them make rather dubious suggestions. ;) Nonetheless, and while the best teacher is experience, they're worth the time if you have it.

The biggest thing to remember about MP is that human-human interaction is the defining difference from SP. If there was a single thing I could impress upon new players it's the value and necessity if diplomacy. I believe someone has written a guide to that, too. ;)

Mainly, contact habitual GMs and let them know you're available to sub. This is both a great way to meet players and earn their trust in your reliability and to learn without the heavy investment a country requires longterm.

I'm one. Hive, 173-002-032, is another. John at 225-570-338. Ryoken at 177-505-043. That ought to be enough to get you some experience. When you sub, just ask players for their ICQ numbers-and they're likely to ask for yours as well. It'll branch from there and eventually you'll either be invited or a new game GMed by someone who's seen you before will open.

Be reliable, timely, willing to learn, relaxed, diplomatially active and play with longterm considerations in mind even when (especially when) you're subbing and you'll do fine.

One of your finest statements. :D So true.
