I got that game as second hand and i dont have the user guide.
The game on its own is not a big problem to manage, I spent many months with imperialism ...
My main problem is this bl**dy religion:
I play France and own 'Flandre' with the CoT. This place is protestant and I am catho. The revolt rate is 20% in average but the other regions are 0%! Why thi particular place does not want to stay quiet? I have plenty of army there to keep the place.
later, I turn the religion to counter-reformist:
The rate of revolt flies up to 50% in the 'flandre': 1 revolt per month  , impossible to continu like that (actually, impossible to play any more). Then some other regions started to revolt as well, due to the state-religion change.
The question is now how do i convert all my country to the state religion?

The dutch region gets extra revolt risk during roughly 1560-1630 to give the Netherlands extra possibilites to exist. Had you turned protestant or reformed instead the extra revoltrisk would have been low enough to be ignored.

Sending a successful colonist to a province will change it's religion. You can only send colonists to provinces with less than 5000 population. Sieges will reduce population in the province.

Tolerance

Well, the year is matching with the periode of independance of the Deutch and I see the spanish having the same problems with the 'Holland' above .
Having a siege on a province for decreasing the population and converting it with settlers is a very strange way to convert a country!! that's socks!
Will i have to declare war to my own country if i want to change the religion?
A province with 15000 hab decreased to 5000? How will i build correct sized armies then against the spanish? Would it be the same with EU2?
An other thing: I kept a look at the revolt rate in some provinces I annexed. The revolt rate was decreasing for 5% to 0% if nothing happenned in those provinces, i mean: no army moving, no war upon those provinces and adding a improvement (factory).

Army building has nothing to do with the city population, so no problems there - you will get less manpower and lower incomes though.

In EU2 the conversion is changed to send missionaries that might or might not succeed in converting the province.

Revolt rate in a newly conquered province that is not 'core' to your nation will always be at least 3%, and will then change as time passes to become like a normal nation.(you can see which provinces are core to you on the mapscreen where nations have colors)
More likely you are seeing 'war exhaustion', as war goes on revolt risks in your provinces will rise until you are at total peace again.

(PS. The siege method for religious cleansing works best if you allow rebels take the province (by keeping religious tolerance for that religion at minimum) and then siege it back with as large an army as possible, as upon taking of the city it will loose population as a factor of the armysize. Only caveat is that you can't get across the level of 5000 population in that way, to get below 5000 you will have to siege it for a few months while it is just above 5000)

If your irritated enough to edit your save test this...

include

province = { id = xxx religion = catholic }

into your save file, where xxx is Flandres id number.

Just wanna point out that I have no idea if this will work as I havent actually tested it on a save file in EU 1, this is the way which you can mark certain provinces when u create EU 2 scenarios though...
