Newbie with a question!

Hi i got a question but i cant seem to find the answer (starting to go crazy becouse of all these sites and posts).
I bought EU1 two days ago, i want to play a game without any random events so i can learn the game, where can i find such a scenario? And also after about min. 5 min. max 20 min. the game just quits and i am returned to my desktop :S any ideas to what may couse that?

First off welcome to the board... and in answer to your questions:

1. Start EU1, go ro Singleplayer, Click on Options, Game Events set to NONE.

(They wont give you too many problems to be honest).

2. Have you installed the latest patch?
