Guys,

I saw this mentioned in an older topic - that the http://editthis.info/CrusaderKings/Main_Page wiki could be migrated to Paradoxian.org to sit beneath other PI wikies...

Is this possible?

If yes I would be willing to do the dirty manual work there...

EDIT: In light of the below I have started to work on a new Crusader Kings Wiki. I know there are at least two previous attempts and I am thankful for that - they are also a source of information I can use, but either they are both unfinished and unpolished, or they are limited in their abilities (like the editthis version not accepting images etc.).

I also know that this will require commitment, time and patience, but I am willing to give in and do whatever I can. If anyone is willing to help out, I will have no objections!

The address is: http://crusaderkings.wikispaces.com/

You will have to contact the people who maintain those sites, though I believe both are no longer active on this forum. Also Paradoxion.org (which has no connection with Paradox BTW) is often down lately and full of spam.

Thx Veldmaarschalk.

That poses a question then - is a wiki for Crusader Kings needed then? Do people request that feature or search for such a resource these days?
Because I also see that the FAQ section is quite two years old now with no further updates...

I have no idea if a Wiki is needed, the problem with such a Wiki is that it depends on volunteers, who are active for a while and then leave (which they have every right to of course).

What would you want to add to the FAQ ? It is not like the game is still being developed or changes being made, the last changes to the original game (which was released in 2004) where made in october 2008. So the FAQ is pretty complete and up-to-date.

It is my experience that even if you make an up-to-date Wiki or FAQ, 90% of the people will still ask their questions and not bother reading either the Wiki or the FAQ.

I pretty much share your view on the subject - that the game is virtually at the end of its life, especially with CK2 being developed now. And though it will live on with mods and stuff, once people get CK2 in their hands and if it proves at least as good as CK1, they (us) will move to that one.

And a Wiki will be needed for the new game then :)

Reg. the FAQs - I was mainly worried with the version numbers that I saw in some of them - like "Last revised to update it for Version 1.01" for the Technology FAQ... But if it is like you say that nothing in there has changed since, I am ok with it.

If you have anything for the FAQ, then you can post it here and I can then move it to the FAQ-section. :)

That was more of a question, if the FAQs are up-to-date for Deus Vult (most are as per their Name) and/or the latest official patches, do you know?

I am but a noob in CK myself, so I could not possibly contribute to FAQs directly (for some time at least). But who knows...

AFAIK all FAQ's are updated for DV.

I started to update the wiki as much as I can. So far I updated the Tutorial section with one more video, rewrote the text there and will be adding links to specific threads here later today (I hope) :)

While updating I found out that editthis has closed file (image) posting. I am slowly inkling on starting a fresh wiki (staying away from paradoxian.org because of the above). I know this is an undertaking, if I would want to make it feel right (and foremost, to fill it with enough info to warrant some attention), but I am willing at least to try.

I will have to formulate a structure for it, so far I have this:

Beginner information
- Crusader Kings, Deus Vult and Patches
- Tutorials for Beginners
- Starting Points
(- Possibly an up-to-date tutorial about the game interface, basic dealings and stuff for a new player)
(- Various questions)

Advanced information
- Characters and their descriptions
- Politics and relationships
- Economy
- Advancements
- Waging War
- Crusades

After-Action reporting
(probably a short text and many references to the paradox forum section)

Mods and modding
- Basics on modding
- Well-known mods
- ...

If anyone has some suggestions, I am very well open for them!
