Patience...

Played Take Command: 2nd Manassas yesterday. After getting my a** kicked by the CS, I only have one one advice for all people planning to play the game: Patience! (and some strategic thinking wouldn't be too bad either...).

If you're playing an artillery Captain (like I did), do not run to the front just to get some action. Wait for it to come to you :)

It all ended with my brigade being overrun and the confederates capturing my three remaining cannons. I'll report back when I have actually won anything in the game...

Fredrik

Looks good :)

The ai in this game is very good. I am a tester and have been playing for months and it can still beat me on "normal" mode. I have also learned that like AP Hill, I am best suited to divisional command. When I try my hand at corp commander I tend to get over involved in local command issues and end up in a world of hurt on some other part of the battle field  I think that alone says a great deal about this game

Again, I would argue that this shows how realistc this game is! When you buy this game it is a very good idea to start out as a brigadeer. If you think, "ooh I want to be Stonewall Jackson!" and grab control of the II corp you will likely be overwhelmed and crippled if not destroyed at the battle of Cedar Mountain. You will limp into the Bull Run battlefield with a fraction of the forces Jackson had. (I just finished that very battle-Cedar Mountain as Jackson, I "won" but lost 7,000 of my 19,000 man corp. I approach the next battle with much fear and loathing!)

It is much better to start out as a brigade commander, then move up to divisional commander. Then, if you have the temperment (I don't) you can give a thought to corp or army leadership.
