I believe we will get a new series this time. Certainly not Rome 2.

But Paradox, at least Interactive perhaps also Development Studio, does seem to have switched to announcing closer to the release date for obvious reasons.

I'm thinking HoI4 or Vicky 3.

I would be happy with either or a completely new game.

Victoria 3 is extremely unlikely, as they just released HoD. I find it hard to believe that they would have done that had they already started on a sequel, and I think it is safe to say that whatever they announce next will be something that has been in the works for some time. I would love to see V3, though, but on the other hand I don't mind waiting a few years. I expect some new tech needs to be developed to improve the echonomical simulation and such.

No. It's probably something new.

HoI is the "main" franchise that feels most outdated.

But I'd quite like a new franchise to start up. They've said no to Rome 2. But maybe an Ancient Greek city states, or Three Kingdoms China style game could be coming up.

One other thing: I read a review that a lot of things from Sengoku were trialled there and then incorporated in some form into CK2. Perhaps some things from MotE will be incorporated into another game?

Constant warfare in a previously ignored period would point to one thing: Dark ages.

Although a Mongol Empire based game could also use some mechanics like that.

Well obviously they wouldn't release V3 right now since HOD was just released about 4 months ago. However, they won't be releasing a new game for at least a year and by then HoD will be a bit dated. Odds are they will wait until Eu4 has been out for a few months before they announce what the next game will be. Seeing as V2 is only a few years older than Eu3 a release within the next two years wouldn't be unreasonable.

I would love to see an antique game which is not EU based (meaning no EU - Rome 2 but rather Rome 1 or Greek 1 or Antique 1)

Anyway, they have 1 or 2 years of CK2 DLC in the basket. I guess something similar for EU4. Wouldn't be suprised for another V2 expansion...
HoI is getting its cold war version...
Right now, I hardly see anything except Rome... or something new... if they have the manpower...

Victoria 2 is a verrry niche game so its unlikely we'll see a sequel for that any time soon. Paradox was really riding on the CK2 sales to put out a good EU4 so if there is anything they are going to do is milk out the money for CK2 (dlc) and EU4.

wasn't it pretty much confirmed as the War of the Vikings thing though?
(unless you're talking about Pdox-developed games, and not just published...)

Mix of Victoria and Crusader Kings

I would be happy to see a Mix of the Game mechanics of Crusader Kings and Victoria.

You would play a Family through the times of 18th till the 21th century.
The idea is to cope with all the technology and ideology shifts of these times.

It would not be so simple to generate, but it would really be very interessting
to simulate and to see what might happen to your family members during
the French Revolution, the Boxer Uprising, the Industrial Revolution or a World War.

What professions do they choose, which ideology do they follow, do they become
pioneers in the wild west, slave traders in afrika or diplomats in east asia.
Do they invest in factories in Italy, in oil wells in persia or in french war bonds?
An English Trader marries a chinese woman (as in TAI Pan, 1842) is a complete
different thing in 1962... The social enviroment would respond quite differently.
(You wand to marry a foreigner?! - You marry a Communist!/an Imperialist! - Not as long I am your father!)

Do your family become well known as the Krupp or Porsche family?
Do some members will be prime minister, or a famous person as Sarah Bernard or Billy the Kid?
Will your family fund research in medicine or missiles?

Maybe it would be better to test this idea only in a small time scale as the french revolution,
or the Meji-Restoration as the scientific historical overview over these periods is very good.
However, this first approach would be very country centered.

On the one hand this simulation would not be so exciting for the
most militaristic (male) players, which wand to move armies to conquer the world -
but paradox has enough games for these clients.
On the other hand some more females players may be far more interessted.

Well i have a good historical overview and therefore some ideas but as i have only
limited knowledge in programming...

Maybe a Victoria III

Well, ofc we need Vicky III!

Maybe a Rome game based more on factionalism in Rome, similar to The Republic expansion, each player controls a faction in Rome (I think Total War did this too), and struggles to get two consuls from their faction, which gives a lot more options.

Political simulator ala Republic of Rome(Avalon Hill boardgame).
Dynasty simulator as you marry into other senatorial families to pull them to your faction.
War simulator, when the Republic declares war (often something you have no control over), you lead armies to war. But in peacetime, if your faction isn't in command of a unit or your faction is a consul, you don't get to move armies at all.

Just some random thoughts.

HOI hasn't had any updates in a long time. Its due too. I'd like to see a HOI simulator with a deeper economic model, not quite as deep as Gary Grisby's War in Russia, but it would be cool to get a bit deeper. Maybe drop "infrastructure", and have actual rail lines and roads. maybe drop "Factories", and have "Rubber Factory", "Ball-Bearings Factory", "Engine Factory-Light", etc.

It would be cool if the advanced economic model was a toggle, so players could opt for a simpler experience with a checkbox at game launch.

Honestly I'd rather something new. I don't know what they could do to "lesser" franchises like Rome and Sengoku to make them worthwhile. What would be great though is something completely original, like a grand strategy....in space!
