Hi, how do the Spaniards and Portuguese manage to enter my colonial territory in the Carribean / Brazil etc and engage my troops there without formally a state of war between our countries? In other words, my possesions in the West Indies are under constant attack even when I'm not at war with the Iberians... what gives

Ah Tordesillas, was already thinking it must be this treaty to divide up the New World... Will I ever be able to get my claims justified? Fe, Suriname & Curaçao became Dutch not Spanish relatively soon etc

Since the Dutch are not Catholic, the ToT rules don't apply to them.

Depends if the player really converted Holland to the reformed faith tbh.

I have seen Catholic Holland-s many times.

Well, since the question was based on real history...

Right but I was Burgundian player and owned the Netherlands entirely, and since there were never any independent nations established in the Netherlands other than the Burgundian Empire ruling nowadays Benelux, I was bound to add all the colonies to my empire that would have been Dutch colonies in historical timeline. And did so but having been protestant would have helped greatly... Leading to new question: If Burgundy ownes the reformed territories of Holland and even some German culture lands like reformed Baden and Alsace, would the player be better off converting to reformed in the long run ... I was thinking I have to stay catholic for historical reasons I would have preferred if Burgundy was pagan :D
