What would you say if; personal ambitions appeared according to traits, characters, conditions and context, apart from the player's control; but personal focus was a gameplay tool, controlled by the player?

quite perfect !
shouldn't player must have some more influence on its own ambitions ?

NF as it is in Vicky2 just won't work here. A personal focus, such as "find claims to X" are a bit easier. The King, even under the most centralized feudal system did not have the kind of control to create a "national focus" because nations, outside Byzantium, didn't exist in CK period as they did in V2.

PLEASE folks, nobody is talking about nations here, NF is a gameplay system used in V2 (and in EU3 maybe? I only played EU2). That system's implementation in CK2 in form of a "personal focus" is what we discuss here. Nobody has ever said anything about nations in CK2 time. I always think that people playing these games are mostly intelligent about history, if not always perfectly informed (as I am also not), and it hurts me when people assume others' ignorance without reading further than the title.

I believe you would agree that there were individual persons in the middle ages, who had some kind of control in the ways they made use of their time and energy, which at certain times could be directed at "focusing" on achieving certain goals. Yes? No nations. No national anythings. No.

If as I mentioned its for stuff like "search for claims on British counties" or "search for a better marshal" or building items where the king is located at (usually the capital) and its within their demesne then its okay.

Its not okay if its telling someone within a vassals realm to do so (you gave the vassal an order and they got it done how best they saw fit...or not if they were close to rebelling), not somewhere 10 provinces over (lack of speedy communication meant lack of authority in distant realms, even within ones demesne), nor realm-wide measures outside wartime related ones which came at a price because a liege didn't have that kind of authority.

That's what I meant at the first post: a game mechanics which gives the player a level of control on how the ruler makes use of his/her time and energy. And hence the name "personal". It is something about the character's own time.

Love the idea to set a focus on fathering an heir...I had a long stretch of time where my King had like 10 daughters and 5 dead sons.

Video evidence in the signature.

I definitely like the idea of the national focus equivalent being the liege's personal presence/interest. That alone makes controlling your own character about a hundred times more straightforward.
