Currently, we are discussing a possible conflict situation erupting from a Sov-Japanese crisis. Dunno what that possible conflict may lead to. There's still a lot of hatred, considering all that nuking in firestorm's AAR :D

I find your definition of "paradise" as any nation that wasn't hit by multiple nukes to be incredibly fitting for the mood of this AAR/mod.

To answer the question: It's the Balkans, there is always tension, duh.
We haven't really started in-depth research into reasons for wars yet, we are mostly tossing ideas around, but from the top of my head the Serbians want revenge for the dismantling of Yugoslavia, the Greeks are about to revolt against their occupation, Bosnians want to break lose from Croatia and Romania feels threatened by Hungary and Bulgaria, which both demand territory they regard as rightfully theirs from them. Not to forget the tension arising from different idologies and domestic troubles.

create a independent state, as was done in 1943, with German help

Oh, yeah. Germany's top priority is making it's biggest and oldest ally hate them just to get Albania on the map...

And if they don't do it with german support. - They'll get destroyed by Italian and German armies. Only way I see an Albania on the map is if SU or USA conquers Europe.

PS. Just my wiev. The rest of the group may think otherwise.

We will revolt, and our IC will be over NINE THOUSAND!

It's...it's...Over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!
:D

Hilarious, but I still think there is no place for little Albania in this scenario, not under German reign anyway.
If if you absolutely have to include them in the mod, I suggest making them puppets, or puppets of puppets.

The way I see it, the 70s and 80s should be... interesting times for the whole world.

The world order is harsh. It is authoritarian and iron fisted. The wounds from The Greatest War may have stopped bleeding, but they sure as hell aren't closed.

There should be bitterness in Europe, especially in England, France and Spain. Meanwhile think how the free world views England? How the people in Spain and France would think of them. Allied Armies had reached Berlin. They were fighting the last savage armored remains of the Nazi armies and the English turned, ensuring German victory. (That's not an entirely fair view of what happened but you can bet money that's how many would chose to see it). On the flip side in the 70s at least most Europeans would likely just to damn tired. Whole nations were reduced to graveyards and burning ruins. It takes more then one generation to recover from that.

In Africa and Asia people are under empires they have no love for. Africa is unlikely to be quiet. Communist infiltratiors ran riot in our own timeline, imagine what they're doing now that USSR rules all of Asia outright. I don't think Europe will find it's domination of Africa and Arabia a restful one.

What I'm most interested in is Indonesia if no one else has done anything with that? Somehow I don't think Sakarno and Suharto would be done just yet.

Well Belgium and the Netherlands united at the Madrid Peace Treaty, they still control Indonesia although lost the island of New-Guinea to the Australians. We're working on some events for a possible Indonesian revolt, but the United Netherlands aren't pushovers in this timeline, they are the third Axis naval power behind Germany and Italy

I would love to see a civil war between Sukarno and Suharto, funded by ussr and germnay respectively. And Habibi as 3rd democratic contender :D

That map sure raises a lot of background questions (which is good).

  1. How did England managed to keep some colonies (Sri Lanka, pieces of Africa, South America...)?

  2. What did Portugal do to deserve such rich rewards? And what did Spain do wrong?

  3. What's up with South America? Did Brazil and Argentina (arch-nemisis) form a federation?

  4. How is Seilon still around?

1. UK switched sides and joined the Axis when the americans were starting to lose in Germany. That led to UK getting something out of the war while still loosing it's old empire.

2. Don't really remember.

3. Argentina was a part of the Axis and annexed Brazil which was a part of the Allies.

4. ???

Do mind that this mod is based on a HoI game which makes some things have no sence at all. We want to keep what the game created while making it realistic.

3. In people language, Ceylon? Ceylon is in British hands, seems logical it would stay that way for now since the Germans could really use that naval base near the Asian SU.

I have no idea why I wrote "Ceilon". Must have something to do with the late lunch. :eek:o

I meant "Why is Siam still around?".

1. Most remaining British colonies are islands or isolated by neutrals minors, unsurprisingly. The enemy couldn't conquer them without transports, which always gives the AI trouble. Therefore, Britain basically lost all land colonies at some point or other to Germany, the Soviets, Japan or even the Allies after they switched sides.

2. Portugal joined the Axis while Republican Spain supported the Allies. Sadly, Portugal got overrun pretty quickly after that and they bear the honor of being the only European Axis member Firestorm ever managed to defeat. Still, Germany rewarded them for chosing the right side. Spain got punished because the Allied Expeditionary Force made its last stand in Spain and it was one of the bloodiest campaigns of the entire war.

3. Brazil and Chile got lured into the Allies by the UK with the plan to crush Argentinia, which had joined the Axis. Sadly, Argentinia somehow overwhelmed the attackers and proceeded to conquer all its enemies in South America. The Allies never got around to send enough help to stabilze the frontlines and had to withdraw their expeditionary forces soon after. Another large humiliation for the democratic alliance.

4. Japan failed to badger Siam into its military alliance, so Siam has been neutral for the entire war.

Here's some media for you guys showing our new research template, exosuit, and research bgs (in thumbnail)

ATM Firestorm is working on finishing off the tech trees, we hope to have a big update in the course of the next week in which Firestorm will explain the new research system a little, some of the techs you'll be able to do, and some coverage on our new GUI

is it possible to get a save game from the end? Just to know for example how many divisions each country had.

The save game right now is proving tricky. I've sent a couple copies out but nobody can run them for some odd reason. I don't know what is up with that. I must have changed something somewhere to cause this, but I am not sure what.

Also, the end-game division counts would only be plausible for the Chicago Pact and the Soviet Union. Due to having 10 years of peace, Germany has something like 120 armor divisions and 600 base IC.

Germany will not have that much in our mod, as I will be scaling everyone back so we don't have nations with 4000 IC in 2000.

And TRP's pictures above are just but a mere sample of what we have going :)

And when AoD gets released, we will be able to talk more about code. We are reluctant to make any coding outside of ministers, leaders, and tech, due to the fact that AoD will be making changes we cannot predict.

Then do you have a save game around the end of hostilities in Europe?
For the interim story for Hungary I would like to have a feel for what happened, where did the country get in the 3 decades from 1936.

Reading the AAR is a very good way.

And you would learn everything, how the world developed, how the nations acted, etc. . I seriously advise reading it. At least the WW2 part.

An important announcement from the GFX department

We are looking for contributors to help us build a generic leader image pool. No graphic skill is required, it's a rinse and repeat job for which we set up an automated process, the most important thing is looking for general pictures on the internet and running the Photoshop action on them. If you are interested, please come help us out

Hungary got to send its soldiers everywhere in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, but the nation itself never really featured in the AAR since it was never in danger of being conquered by its enemies.
Germany proved to be a good ally that kept the struggle far away from its friends and in turn the massive amount of Hungarian expeditionary troops likely played a decisive role in rescuing Germany itself from bing overrun by the Allies. Everything else is up to your imagination at the moment. ;)
