Well, whenever I load a savegame of the tutorial I can no longer built cavalry. This makes the game pretty much unplayable, because I lose thousands of men of infantry to even the puniest natives. (Even with hundrets of cannons in my armies!)
Note that I encountered this problem ONLY in the tutorial, but it gets way too hard this way.

Yes, I noticed the same problem as well. The tutorial is seriously messed up from what I can tell. I will save a game and when I reload it it jumps ahead with the next 'lesson' before the other has been completed.

Must have been a rush job on their part. I do hope they get it fixed. Oh well. I guess I will learn the game mechanics the hard way..trial and error :)

A horse, a horse. My kingdom for a horse!

I'm relieved to learn that other people have run into this horseless wonder problem. I thought I'd just used up every horse the Irish could, um, round up.
I guess it really is a bug, not a feature!

I sent off an email to the support address above noting this bug and a few others I encountered while playing the tutorial with the latest patch for the NA version of the game (1.08).

I have never played the game without the patch, but from the patch build notes it appears that before this latest patch you were unable to save games in the tutorial scenario. This cavalry bug is obviously related to the save-game issue.

And good point about editing the save game files. Perhaps my email to support will get a happy response with a solution to this problem.

Calvary is rather important in the shock phase of combat resolution (given favorable terrain of course) so I would like to have some for my battle against the Marmalukes. (So far I have my ally doing all the fighting while I send him money to support his war effort!) He is at war with them afterall and is the alliance leader so I just go with the flow!

Also, the fact that you cannot build warships in this scenario really blows. Try sending a fleet of transport ships with an army into the Eastern Med and see how far that gets you. I haven't been foolish enough to to this mind you, but give me a break! :)

I guess I will have to do it the hard way :)

Edited My Savegame Files

In desperation I went into my savegame file and simply found all of my land units and added calvary to them. I also added warships to my naval units to counteract the pirate threat. It is a pain having to replace cav and warship losses manually like this, but what the heck.

I finished the tutorial last night (I took Delta..hehe).

Now I am playing Russia in my first GC. It is 1493 and I already have Ingermanland courtesy of the Teutonic Order.

Now for some rebuilding and on to Kazan and all points east!
