I'm sure this has been asked before, but I haven't found anything. But I'm not that good at reading the "Read me-files"...

In which patch was "no CD required" introduced?

Just noticed when I played a session of EUII with a totally different game-CD in the drive.

Just curious :) .

(It's great because I have two copies of EUII that are really dear to me :p . Now I can put them in the safe :D .

Around 1.04 for some but it depends on the publisher really.

But a CD is still required, it is just not required to be in the drive while you play. ;)

Thanks for your prompt reply Castellon!

Well, when it comes to Paradox, I buy all their games. It doesn't make a difference if I like them or not :p . I buy them as a "thank you" for their wonderful support of EUII :) . (Which, by the way, is THE greatest strategy game ever made. But I guess that has been said before :D .)
