I'm not sure if this is a bug, but was advised to make a post here anyway. To quote the other thread:
I'm King of Denmark in 1115, and I've been fighting for years to gain the crown of England. My previous King, Thorgils I, declared war due to wanting to preserve the claim before he died (his brother Erik I had previously failed to seize the crown some years back). He died not long after, and the war was passed on to his nephew Harold IV, who successfully inherited the claim.
I've since spent the last few years whittling down the English to about 67% warscore at the expense of a civil war and two rebellions back home, but poor old Richard I still refuses to concede defeat. His armies have been crushed repeatedly, I hold the whole southeast of England, but still he fights on. No matter, I thought, he'll give in eventually. And then Harold IV suddenly died for no apparent reason. Fair enough. But then, to my horror, his son Erik II did not inherit the claim to England and the war abruptly ended "inconclusively". I assume this is due to Harold IV not having technically declared war on England, since the war was started by his father. The game then decided that, since Harold had not attempted to back up his claim by officially declaring war (because I was already at war with them), the claim was not inherited by his son. I am now left with a battered Kingdom and no claim on England whatsoever despite over a decade of war.
So because I was already at war I was unable to declare war, and therefore unable to secure the claim for my successor. Is this intentional? It seems to me that already being at war with the title holder should count toward the succession of your claim.
