So it appears KA2 won't have province level resource production according to the manual and it seems unit maintenance is gone as well. I quite enjoyed having these elements in the first game and I'm very disapointed they won't be in the second. It really did add an extra level to your strategy in the first game, forcing you to make some more hard choices. I'm wondering why Neocore decided to remove it, and what other people think about this? Did alot of people complain about it in the first game?

In the sequel we decided to go for a more RPGish direction on the Campaign Map and tried to add more tactical options to the battles. We also wanted to make the game more dynamic. And we added many things to the game instead and I feel the result is quite engaging, try the Prologue and you'll see if you like it or not :)

I have played the prologue, and I did enjoy it, the battles and story were great. However, I really felt the prologue was quite lacking in regards to kingdom management and it did just feel as if I was shunting from one battle or event to another with little else to think about.

I almost couldn't be more disappointed. :( I enjoyed the prologue quite a lot, but I had also assumed that the deeply-missed kingdom management aspect was absent only in the streamlined introduction campaign. I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that it was scrapped in its entirety. I'm still going to play the game and I imagine I'll still enjoy it quite a lot. The Prologue was plenty enjoyable. But I'm afraid my potential for true enjoyment is now capped by the realization that one of my favorite aspects of the first game is gone for good.

I see both the positive and the negative about this change, so it is difficult to decide if it is good or bad.

I enjoy deeper games and kingdom management in the first was an important aspect. But on the other hand, I enjoyed the simplicity and flow of the prologue since the game became easier and more stright forward.

I think removing kingdom management will make my first play through more enjoyable since i will be able to focus on the adventure and story, but it will limit the number of times i will want to replay the game by a lot. After all when you know what all the RPG quests choices lead to, and do a rightful then a tyrant playthrough, there is no motivation to replay the game as there will be nothing new to discover. Some sandbox elements help the game live longer.

However after giving this some thought, I remembered that I never finished the first King Arthur. The difficulty was spiking near the end (and I had to restart a couple of times because of broken quests), so all in all I like this change. At least I know I will finish KA II this time, and it gives the developers more focus thus i believe it will lead to superior game quality and attention to details. At least I hope so.

Just add kingdom management to our wishlist for King arthur 3. :)

It`s sad to see kingdom management go...it was a pain but it added a lot to the game, the balanced blend of rpg and wargame is gone now, I would give you flying units in exchange for resource management everyday

Well said :)

Or what do you mean by at a time?

If you refer to battles where another complete army arrives as a reinforcement, then no.

But you will control several armies in the game.

Sorry to clarify i mean more then 1 army on the campaign map.

Also Kate after playing half of the first chapter in the beta i think you should really consider making a sandbox dlcs for each of the factions (Picts, romans, saxons, druids)

I think these would extend gameplay immensely on such a beautiful large map.

Added RPG aspects:

A lot more quests, story is way more important
A lot more complex skill tree for heroes
Monsters that are impossible to beat limit where you can go in the beginning of the game (you still have enough space to explore and expand in an almost free way - only the borders are drawn by these armies) - because we don't want you to ruin future quests
Artifact Forging - more item sets
Different types of heroes carry different types of artifacs (only spellcasters=Sages can carry a staff and so on)

New features that add to the gameplay on the Campaign Map:

Dimplomacy
All locations are upgradable on the map - a lot of empire building!

We still hope you will like this new mix :)

We do like the new additions, I mean at least I do. I love them. I'd still like the kingdom management back though. If you'd start a DLC, or even better, KA3 in a couple of years, I'd like the old management system + improvements on that system + the current additions + more additions. lol, a bit greedy there, I know ;)
