Yes it would be a real shame if this would not be released for Linux. I mean Paradox and Eugene did a really good job in the past with titles like Stellaris and Wargame. I see no reason why it shouldn't be. Especially if you consider Microsoft's recent push making Windows + Store a (even more) walled garden...
An official statement would be nice :)

This seems interesting. On https://www.paradoxplaza.com/steel-division-normandy-44 is an indicator for Linux but on http://www.steeldivisiongame.com/ it mentions only Windows in the footnotes. It's probably a mistake

I suspect there will still be a Linux version. I recall Eugen didn't initially have it with ALB an RD either, but it was introduced a bit later. The base engine itself has already been used in Linux and since Steel Division is based on it I suspect it will be no different case.

Yes, you're probably right. It would make little sense if they decided to not use their existing technology/knowledge.
