No missions in that Scenario

This is a bug, not a tech support question, so over you go ...

... and here we are. This is a known bug: missions do not work, never have worked, and never will work as the bug has been marked as Won't Fix. It's essentially something that was intended in the original design but never implemented.

251 : Type: Game Logic | Status: WON'T FIX | Severity: CRITICAL
Mission Victory totally broken

Does this mean I get my money back as the game will not play properly on my laptop? Especially as they have no intention of fixing it?

Did you buy it with the sole intention of playing missions? If so then a quick check of the known bugs list would have saved you the money. If not then you are not missing anything; the entire rest of the EU2 gaming community has enormous fun playing the game without them. Why not give the game a try as is, you'll get your money's worth of enjoyment I suspect.

I wondered why missions exist on my main frame but not on my laptop (same installation file). I rather like using missions to enhance my vp but this seems impossible to do this stategy on my laptop. Any comments?

I am detecting a slight misunderstanding here. I'm not playing for a mission victory. I am playing a normal game but there are absolutely no missions listed for me to try to gain a few extra vps. I assume the bug is that you cannot play for a mission victory not that missions dont exist at all in the game in any way......

Missions existed in the original Europa Universalis but have never worked in EU2 as AndrewT has said. There are no extra VPs available by that method. He quoted the wrong bug; see:

309 : Type: GAME LOGIC | Status: WON'T FIX | Severity: NORMAL
Dummy entry in province.csv can get chosen for missions. Won't Fix as missions in toto do not work

Actually, I think that no missions is probably WaD but the in-game references to missions are an interface bug.

Yes, I did misunderstand I think. It definitely should list some in-game missions (what mainframe are you playing on?).

I can only guess you have an installation problem on your laptop. Uninstall EU2 entirely like this, defrag your hard disk, and reinstall EU2 then 1.08 plus any beta or mod youusually play with.

Exactly the same problem (no missions) on pc with a new install on pc at work. Anyway to debug this? Anyone?

It's been a long time since I used missions so I didn't think of this earlier: when you select the scenario click the 'options' button and see if Dynamic Missions are 'ON' or 'OFF' on each system. (Most people don't use missions since most people don't care about VPs in EU2. That's probably why no one else asked this yet.)
