No more humility! A Kaiserreich Qing Empire AAR

Okay, this is my first attempt at writing an AAR. It probably won't be very good and I am not a very good player but hopefully I can have fun trying to write one and probably failing miserably.

The country I am selecting, the Qing Empire, with all the boring settings etc.

This depicts the initial situation. The Qing Empire (blue) surrounded by potential enemies. Imperialists are entrenched in China. They must be swept away with an iron broom!

There are also rogue Chinese states with the audacity to think that they should have independence. The Emperor is determined to crush this whimsical idea.

The most important component of the state, the instrument that will be used to reunite China, the army, is being organised.

The greatest brains in Asia are directed towards learning new ways of using guns, and new tools for making them.

The state extends the tentacles of the central executive to all parts of society...

The Qing Empire needs factories to mass produce weapons. Unfortunately, the Emperor has to swallow the bitter pill of having to rely on imperialist imports. Not for much longer! No more humility!

The Chinese new year. There are great hopes for the coming year.

The Emperor articulates the general hopes of a nation. The nation yearns for great reformation. The Emperor will deliver.

The army is directed towards the border with Shangqing Tianguo. The Chinese dragon is stirring.

The war with the revolutionary republic came as no surprise to anyone in the Qing Empire. The tension had been acute. The revolutionaries had infiltrated the great Qing Empire and stirred unrest. They had attempted to harm the Emperor!

It is not a war. It is law enforcement. The republic is illegitimate. The leaders are criminals.

The spring offensive starts with such promise.

... and ends with dismal failure with the territorial integrity of the Empire violated.

Further south there is success.

The glorious army succeeds in encircling and destroying the filthy communists.

The reformation continues. The necessity of military reform has been made excruciatingly obvious with the setbacks suffered by the Qing army.

The army, bolstered by further reforms, continues the offensive.

... and the failures continue.

The Emperor is furious and pushes for further reforms.

Apparently the reforms have had some effect.

Things are getting better.

The revolutionaries cannot hold back the unstoppable advance!

Soon they were begging for mercy. They found none. No mercy for the revolutionaries!

By the end of the year great progress had been made. However the progress had been slower and more difficult than had been expected. It was a pyrrhic victory. The Emperor was humiliated. Heads had to roll. They did.

Fu Zuoyi, the minister for armaments. was dismissed after allegations of corruption came to light. 'Dismissal', of course, was an euphemism for being hung from meat hooks. The Emperor does not forgive easily.

Shang Zhen, head of intelligence, came to a similar fate. However his actions were far more serious. He had been passing sensitive military information to the communist scum. Needless to say, such treasonous actions merited the harshest possible punishment. His corpse was unrecognisable.

Finally Qu Yangke, minister of security, had to go. He crime was immeasurable incompetence.

The new minister appointments were made in accordance with the continuing reformation of the state.

Unfinished business was winding down...

The Communist threat was finally extirpated. Glory to the Empire!

@ Omni-Manni: Oh... I didn't even know there was an event to inherit the other Chinese states. This is literally my first real time playing Kaiserreich and my first time as the Qing Empire o

As the border with the Xibei San Ma (which in Chinese means 'in the north west there are three Ma's') gets longer following the crushing of rebellion, border friction increases accordingly.

The Muslim separatists are waging a jihad against our brothers!

It is the duty of the Emperor to defend the religion and liberty of whom he sees as his subjects, he has the mandate of Heaven, after all. Damn, look at Changra Depon's hair, such hair cannot be oppressed.

War with the reviled Ma's comes as a matter of course. Qing is the only name that matters and it infuriated the Emperor that these gangsters think they have the authority to wage war. The Emperor is the only legitimate authority!

The war with the Ma's will be the first test of the new administration.

Thus far, they have not disappointed.

Soon the Ma family is begging for mercy and forgiveness. Fools! The Emperor dictates the terms.

Wang Kemin, the man responsible for the successful prosecution of this war is rewarded for his efforts. He is now the Emperor's chief minister.

The Emperor is baffled. All the best troops are involved in the war hundreds of miles away from the capital. It couldn't have been a very good parade.

The last stronghold has been assaulted.

Thus another year comes to a spectacular end.

However, apparently, more events have unfolded. The Mongolians have shown such ingratitude towards the Emperor for his intervention. It can not stand.

I think his KR Installation is broken, the events seem to work so far (which is important), but his Graphics and flags are all wrong.

Industry in the Empire is quickly expanding.

Following the Empire's stupendous military achievements, a new age of prosperity had began. Let a thousand flowers bloom! Scientific advancements are being made in agriculture to stave off the perennial famine problems and in military science to ensure that China is never again pushed around.

A standing army is a necessity in these troubled times.

The Emperor is indeed short tempered and will not let imperialists and separatists rest.

What do you mean 'Mongolia'? There is no Mongolia.

Despite the widespread admiration in the Empire of the hair of Changra Depon, Tibet created problems for herself by allying with the Mongolians. So the country suffered a similar fate. Victims to Puyi's short temper.

After these military successes against the separatists, Puyi felt confident enough to engage in a bit of brinkmanship with the sushi eating imperialists.

In private Puyi concedes that the Empire is not yet strong enough for war with the imperialists.

However, Japan is a social liberal democracy. It is decadent and weak. It is crippled by moral depravity. It is weakened by years of peace and luxury. It will not dare respond to the Emperor with military force!

Oh dear.

Decent update. You're a brave man, taking on Japan with such dissregard. Hopefully the Japanese won't give you too much trouble. Be sure to guard the coast line while you push through Manchuria.
