I installed all the 400+ mb of this great game, then I cant listen to the music! Why? I have WinXP and everything else seems fine...the game runs smoothly. No music but the ordinary plipp & plopp when u select a unit. And yes, I have the music turned ON...plz help

DO me a favour please. Could you look in the music directory and see what's there?

Ok, I just recieved my HoI through the mailbox

Now... I *also* have the music problem, custom install = music files to HD. PAN vision HoI, patch 1.01 = CTD 0.5 second into initialization of music.

Right, I rename 'music' folder, and it works. (But no music)

Just for the heck of it, I tried to change the music directory so it was not 'read only' (usually happens from CD installs), and now it wont crash if your pick 'music - disabled' in the configuration file. Still crashes if I pick 'enabled'... :(

PAN vision HoI - patch 1.01 (Music files installed to HD)
P3 1GHz
512 MB RAM
Win XP english
SB PCI128 - MS XP driver from 01.07.2001 (Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows XP Publisher)

The beta version I have has no music what so ever, so I have no way of verifiing what is going on. I will pass a message onto the people who (hopefully) know what is going on.

No music either

I got same problem as hristo and sabotage.
The game CTD if music is enabled. (When game initializes sound interface etc.)

CPU:
Athlon XP 2000+
512mb (333)
Creative Live! 5.1
WinXP

I don't know if anyone else knows a resolution for this problem or not, but here are a couple things you could try.

1. Install the latest drivers for your soundcard, if it is integrated with your motherboard then get the latest motherboard drivers too.

2. Try removing directx and installing 8.1.

3. Try turning down the hardware acceleration for your sound card.

Don't forget to provide all the info required when posting here folks (sound card, installed driver version, video card, installed driver version, etc...). See the stickies at the top of the forum.

Sabotage: I have read of a couple problems encountered when people use the custom install option. If you're still having trouble after following verbal's suggestions above, try uninstalling completely and then reinstall using the default configuration. If worst comes to worst, let us know that you still have a problem and then disable the sound (so you can play) and play it in the background with another mp3 player (Winamp, etc...)

hristo and Villa: did you do default installs or custom? Can you play the music in the folders using an mp3 player? etc...

Sytass gives the proper link for the solution to this problem.

I too got the music problem, so i thought like, hey lets play them with winamp or windows media player. No sound at all. They do play them, but they dont give any sound at all. Couldnt just someone mail all those musicfiles to me again, cuz i think mine are bugged :(.

What publisher version do you have, Pan or SF?

SF

I do not have a fix for the SF version, My suggestion would be to completely uninstall the game and then do a fresh install.

No music for me though it probally sucks like the EU2 music so who cares.
I do... your a shame for ur country...

Anyway i reinstalled the game, didnt work. I then tried playing the music from the cd, but even those files play, but dont give any sound at all, so reinstalling logically doesnt help.

Do you have the volume turned up every where it should be, Speakers, Sound/volume control software, windows volume control, game music in options screen?

Can you play music from other sources?

Hey, i didnt think of that option! :p. I tried that, and a few others too. All sound sliders up, in advanced mode too. Installed it on more comp, same prob. Played music files with 3 different players, on 4 different computers, from hd aswell from the cd, no music :(.

Please do not do it again

Thank you for your attention.
And this wasnt meant as offence, more as a joke. Like the music in EU doesnt suck, i disagree with you, and since where (nearly :p) both from the same country... well you get the point. No offence meant.
