If, like me, you applied only to be turned down, chin up! There are advantages to not being a betazoid, such as:

*More time and energy for hobbies like Work and Family
*Get to play the game when finished rather than slogging through bugs and CTDs
*Rampant baseless speculation unhindered by actual gameplay experience
*CK can remain on your Christmas list, giving Santa Claus something to wrok with :D

i didnt make it :( but i think it's a blessing in disguise as i still play HOI and EU2 has finally trailed off a bit for me. plus, victoria is coming out soon. if i did make beta, i dont know how i could have time to play them all. im sure i'd find a way....get fired from work and flunk out of college :p

*cries*

The sad thing is that I'm more depressed than I should be. It's not like I actually thought I would be picked -- I haven't beta-tested before, and I don't post on these forums as often as some do [and the only person who might recognize my name is Uglyduck].

But I wanna see the game! Wah!

I am a tad disappointed seeing as how I am a veteran of the series and of gaming in general, I have had some beta experience (for Blizzard), I am a Political Science-History double major (that history major should be a good thing, no?), and I applied for a total of 3 betas (Victoria I, Victoria II, and CK) and got in none of them. However, I suppose I'm not as active in the Ck forum as I am in, say, the AGP-EEP forum (I am a constant source of pain for the Italian, British Isles, German, and Byzantine threads :p:p), and, though I visit often, my posting even there is down to around 7 times a week. I'll make due I suppose and wait or Victoria and CK to come out. :'( :'(

I also didn't get in, which is fine, I really have no serious beta experience and I'm not a tech person at all, and thus I'm not surprised at all. I am however surprised that people are making refrence to the fact they are active or inactive on the forum as reason why they should have or why they didn't get in respectively. Is being active on the forum actually something that matters to the selection?

It is, to an extent. This is one of the reasons I doubt I'll get in (still no email, BTW). I lurk on the boards almost every day, but I don't post much. I guess the logic behind it is that you can rely on the people who are more active to stick around. Which makes sense from Paradox's POV - after all, they don't really know many of us.

I look around this thread and I see a lot of courage. And it gives me strength. We give each other strength.

It's time for the one-on-one. Let's follow Deaghaidh's example and open ourselves.

Can everyone find a partner?

See the first page of "Soo.. the lucky ones?" and compare who get in. It seems that UglyDuck, you and maybe Marcus Valerius and Onslaught are the exception (krtbrian admitted he can't be betatester)

I was about to say the same thing, plenty of pleople who got a slot who have almost no posts here, me included no prior Beta experience and no tech dude...I think you are better off not trying to rationalitze it since the answer for the yes or no could have been something you give no importance and Pardadox did like perhaps nationality, age, free time, historical knowledge, etc..Who knows? I´m just so glad I can add my little sand corn to this beautiful proyect. Heads up fellows! We will bust our arses to get you the best we can offer (crosses fingers) ;)

I've enjoyed reading your posts on the Reconquista and al-Andalus with great interest, Ebusitanus. I'm glad they brought you on board to whip Iberia into shape! :)

If it makes you feel better, I recognize your name. :)

Actually I had a different reason for asking, which is I'm a consultant, and one of the things I consult on is what to look for in the hiring process. I was more wondering what the possible rationalization for hiring someone who is posting alot versus reading alot. I notion of hiring new employees that seem most willing to speak up when they need your input or most need to provide you with input is lost on a conversational board such as this. So I was just kinda curious about it....

~EC~

Ok, I guess technically this isn't hiring but it's got to be the same principals in place.

Revolucion para siempre!

Why don't we start discussing a new mod here even before the game is released just to keep ourselves busy? ;)

Did you hear about the Crusaders establishing a Jewish State in Levant to fend off Moslems? I think i read something about that, somewhere in the forum.

I also heard about "Saladin Converts to Christianity" event that is triggered if Crusaders invade Egypt. Anyone?

Participating in beta (more so for some games than others) is much like seeing a movie being shot. Frame by frame, scene by scene.

I didn`t apply for beta since my time is so limited nowadays, but for those of you who didn`t make it, I say, don`t worry about it since you`ll be able to experience the game full-on without previous baggage / issues :)

I have not recieved an email yet . . . .

Wait, did I actually have to apply for this? :D
