Is there any particular advantage to having an HRE member as a vassal (when you are outside of the HRE yourself)?

For context - I'm Hungary, and have HRE member Moravia as a vassal. Does this benefit me (in terms of being able to influence opinion, voting etc?) at all? Or are they just taking up a valuable diplomatic relation slot?

Only if either

- They were an elector, you get a big boost to them voting for you, at the cost of the non-vassals not liking you
- They have cores in the HRE you can reconquer and never suffer unlawful territory for.

The only advantage to have a vassal in the HRE is that you can give it all HRE land you take, and so the Emperor will not ask you to return unlawful territory, the latter damaging heavily your reputation with all HRE members.

Having one vassalized elector gives you a big bonus for him to vote for you, but gives a malus for all other electors, so I will rather consider it a bad deal. If you can vassalize 4 electors, you will be elected, but one is not interesting for me.

Point of Order: The Emperor always asks the person owning the land directly, even if they're a subject, so sometimes you'll give them a province and then come back to find your vassal has returned the province.
