Re the Skopje incident This has happened as the game is structured to split the Yugo provinces between the historical Axis partners in a historical way & historically of course Greece would be the next target for them,the split up of the Balkans events do not take into consideration a Axis Greece.

Maybe some events could be scripted or tweaked so that a Fascist expansionist Axis Greece has claims on Skopje and or Albania,but it is difficult as they would clash with Bulgar claims or Italians as they are normally awarded the provinces by Germans.

Sounds like fascinating games you are having.

I have always wondered what would happen if Greece was Axis there are a few events in CORE for it being Fascist i think?

Bestmajor that will not be necessary I'm afraid because either of the 3 remaining objective cities of the italian north is " a city too far " for me , so , given that for the first time ever Yugoslavia actually joined the Axis without any declaration of war and/or "split Yugo-events " , proving beyond doubt that the game actually hates me with a passsion , I removed most of my forces in Italy in a desperate attempt to defend my puppet state Albania and my fatherlands , Currently some greek divisions alongside Brits ( the majority nowadays ) and a division from new Zealand occupy Bologna in what came to be a bogged down italian theatre of operations . But I will keep this in mind for future inquries for help , thanks for the advice .

Dr Rare , I'm all about a-historical gaming , which means that I love historically accurate starting positions and chaos , mayhem and general sodomy ( and lust - all hail Sodom ) of history as written and known afterwards . I also am a great fan of historical outsiders . I also am Greek ( the last bit to explain why I insist on playing Greece ) . I have tried a few times the Axis as Greece , but it doesn't feed my hunger for conquest ( e.g. the Skopje incident ) and drives me to clashes in the desert , a warfare I just can't do efficiently . So I tried the Allies , and made true a song of the time around the Italian invasion of Sofia Vembo ( greek singer ) which promised to the Italians that " even in Rome we will raise high the Greek flag " . It was fun . And about your question : the Soviets obliterate you . Every time (I've played - and managed to survive until their arrival in the Balkans ). Heh .

Of course I play C.O.R.E and its focus is historical accuracy , and I have to say it does an awesome job at that from what little I understand about the game and history . I even learned a couple of things about other countries I didn't know much . So I wonder if the vanilla game could help me in being a-historical more . On the other hand I would probably miss the C.O.R.E features .

I now believe that the game I need to play is Victoria , and if able to import a Victoria saved game to a later Hearts of Iron ( as I believe it isn't possible with HoI ) title that would be fantastic . Just a thought .

Perhaps I should listen to the advice about playing the major factions .

P.S. : And to think I thought Crusader Kings was a good game , I now officially gather money to buy most of the other games , EU , Victoria , oh boy , I 'll fry my brains .

Cool any Greek stuff you think should be added or tweaked would interest us all i am sure and maybe BM will revamp the Greek leaderpics ,especially if he has some Greek language help It would be good to have a Hoi1 Resistance Greek Cell!

Its not possible unfortunately to convert vic games to Hoi1
But I beleive that the game you should be playing is Hoi1 TGW ,the WW1 mod.Which may interest you if you have not tried it yet?Especially if you want a little pre WW2 Hoi1 WW1 action in the Balkans?

Aha! Is there such a mod ?

Yep , that should fix me up for now fer sure . This is exactly what I want to do , in WW2 as Greece the juggernaughts that are the greater powers tech-wise ( or my inabilities as a Field Marshal ) make my war efforts almost futile . Anyways for a Greece to survive WW2 some work should be done in WW1 . Imagine - for instance - to be able to prevent the Asia Minor disaster ( one could only hope that the timeline of the WW1 reaches the 20ies ) or even to win this campaign and face the challenge that is WW2 as a major ( minor ) power in the eastern Mediterranean . I wish I could mod myself a bit , but I have no skills whatsoever . Oh well ....

But on the other hand I don't want to miss out on the great opportunity to play as Greece should play for once in WW2 and see for instance if I can hold out long enough to stall the Germans ( this is supposed to be our contribution in the Allied Victory , this is what we are told , but I always believed that this was a way to glorify our crushing defeat against nazi Germany ) . I have beaten back the Italians , yes I have , but the Greeks did it actually and it is rightfully considered the most epic moment of modern Greek history , even if all army reserves were exhausted in the process . I believe that I won't be quitting C.O.R.E. , I think however that I will try to dominate the known multiverse as Italy , which was almost an embarassment in WW2 , " almost " , because in WW2 the French also appear , briefly. Hmmm . Now there's a challenge ....

Anyway I got a bit carried away there for a sec , if you could please provide a link to the WW1 mod I'd be grateful . Oh wait , the link is in your sig right ?

P.S. : It's not that I don't want to help , but I don't consider myself such a history buff to be able to do any good , if you really need however Greek speaking help , I'd be glad to offer any assistance and open a couple ( or more ) books in the process . Please let me know how/if I can help , it would be a pleasure to contribute even the tiniest thing in the mod .

.... but I didn't understand how to install the TGW mod .

This is to be used with the Hoi1 TGW 1.1 mod.

I haven't figured out where this is .

On Tuesdays I'm stupid I guess .

I can't wait to install , imagine that since I play on a different computer which has no internet ( to download stuff ) I specifically went out for and bought a usb device just for transfering files and updates . Heh .

So I will be updating my C.O.R.E. game shortly and , take a guess , I'll start over . Heh .

Except if I manage to figure out first what to do with the TGW mod .
