I can't find the answer in the manual so can someone here explain please..... how are the numbers in brackets worked out after a persons martial, diplomacy, etc skills. Are they the skills which are actually used or are these the max possible skill levels for that character?? And what affects these figures - I thought it might be characteristics but that doesn't seem to add up

The numbers between the brackets are those of the ruler + his advisors. So for diplomacy it is his ruler + chancellor, for intrigue + spymaster, for stewardship + steward and for martial + his marshall.
