You'll need 250 gold to get the crown and like Zsrai said another province in Portugal. I'd go after that errant Braganza if I were you. But, well, it doesn't look too good for Christians in Iberia. And not even twenty years in. On the plus side Burgos is a vanilla CK crusading target so maybe you'll get some help, but do what you can to survive. You do only have one province in your demesne, which leaves you pretty vulnerable in case of a war.

kewl, guess ill form portugal then. though id like to keep the galician coat of arms, hehe

i hope i become the papal controller anytime soon to start a crusade against badajoz. it certainly looks grim though...

Hey, look on the bright side. You're doing better than the historical Garcia Jimenez. He was deposed in 1071 by his brother Sancho of Castile.

yeah but its over now :(
toledo dowed me and kind of "diplo-annexed" my vassals without conquering their forts. kinda silly but it was hopeless given the geopolitical situation. hope castille lasts a little longer in my next game...

can someone explain to me the -20 demesne penalty modifier from the royal post? as a duchy with 0 intrigue (garcia jimenez, galicia), i have 3 demesnes and a royal post in every province but my efficiency is still at 80%. am i missing something? i though royal posts enable you to hold more provinces directly...

A Royal post does not increase your efficiency. Instead it reduced the penalty for low efficiency by 20%. So in your case, you still get 100% income from your demesne, even though you only have 80% efficiency.

hrm, dont know if i get it right. with a 20% penalty on efficiency, the royal posts cover the penalty. but if i have a penalty of 30% or more, it doesnt. its just that the alert confuses me a little, its still saying that i dont get the full income of my demesnes

thanks for explaining!

Exactly. So f your efficiency drops to 70%, you will get 90% income of your provinces. But as in regards to event triggers and such, the game still considers you at 70%, so nasty events could fire.

I build Royal Posts first everywhere not for the demense penalty alleviation (though that's nice, essentially you can have at least 1-2 extra provinces with no penalty), but for the very nice burgher and noble loyalty boost.

Its no-tech and guaranteed and once you build one of those you can crank burgher taxes to 1.4 (and noble to 1.2) instantly making them almost as profitable as peasants plus better units/events. Just be sure not to drop any stand below 10% or bad things happen.

And the above post is right, once you drop below 80% regardless of whether you have royal posts everywhere, bad things start to happen. If you get below 70% your provinces will be in constant rebellion almost.

ohh, and btw, my bastard (I asked wether he could inherit in the first page) was made a legitimate heir. Yes, I can play this character that is so alike me :) ! And his younger brother, born within the wedlock, died at the age of 16, poor thing, so my bastard is now my only surviving son. Not that I was in need of good heirs, the O'Brian dynasty is large, good and powerful. But I like my throne to pass on to my only son, rather than some distend relative of my dynasty.
