Malcolm of Molina, Marshal of the Emperor of the United Isles, Lord of all France is dead, aged 73. A mighty young man , driven from his homeland by his liege, he sought refuge in the court of King Richard. He was quickly marked out as a prodigy,a brilliant warrior, tactician and strategist. Richard promoted him to Marshal, and he led both the attacks on Wales, coordinated with the future King, at that time Duke of March. Then he campaigned against the Emir of Scotland, the result of a failed Crusade and a revengeful Jihad following. He went on Crusade, although the gains were never lasting, with the Seljuks ever threatening, but by then Malcolm's legend was great: men died just by being stared at by this man, who was valiant but cruel, and ever loyal to the crown.

His finest moment was when the current King, and indeed Emperor of Isles, claimed his cousins crown, that or France. Two kingdoms fought for many summers, until at last, in the battle of Anjou, Malcolm, standing by his King, charged forward, and cut down the young French Monarch, and handed the crown to his lord.

His sons and daughters are now flung across the empire, dukes and counts, yet Malcolm always remained in London to serve. Training in the war academy, or leading the King's regiment against rebellious vassals.

Yet at last, he was called to God's kingdom.

(This is the (elaborated) story of Malcolm of Molina, a marshal with a martial skill of 25(!), without whom my current Kingdom would have suffered much toil. Luckily his grandson is 15, but will anyone ever as great grace my court?)

He was just soooo awesome, that I felt he had to be remebered some way. He was a badass dude. e once beat 8000 men leading 4500. It was a wonderful battle to watch.

I don't think i've even seen anyone with a stat over 20, despite searching for potential brides by highest diplomacy/intrigue/stewardship...

And vanilla didn't have prodigy, did it? This means you need to get damn lucky on his childhood development (can't breed for good genes anymore), get prodigy, get the best education (not that hard if even just the childhood step is fulfilled) and then more than a couple of traits...

Malcolm of Molina will live forever in the glory zone of heaven.

Indeed. In fact when I hired him, he had 23, but over his lifetime he gained both valourous and cruel. Still, although my new marshal has 17, he's not quite as awesome...

Yea, his age is just another side to his epicness. I really miss him. Although seeing as 2 of his sons are dukes, and one of his daughters is a duchess, I think his family did pretty well out of it.

Ok, i'm taking back these words, since they're no longer true. First I somehow got a guy with martial 24, but he left pretty soon due to me being excommunicated (damn you, William the Conqueror) and courtier loyalties plummeting.

Then my eldest son and heir finished his education, had 17 martial just before, got brilliant strategist and now has martial 23 (i'm sure about the 23, think it was +6 for brilliant strategist). Too bad I had to give up his services as martial pretty soon, didn't want the -prestige for him not having land.

Is not there not a age limit at 70 years?!! Or was it maybe 80? Or am I completely lost now?

I had a king with great stats (except intrigue) that became 80 or 90 years old, had more than 20 children with 7 different wifes. The last one was a 16 year old  He outlived his grandchildren and his empire stretched from norway to Georgia.

Thanks for sharing that story, I loved it. Crusader Kings is the greatest Paradox game because of the people.

We should start a thread called "Tales from the Crusader Crypt" or something celebrating the best (or worst), most interesting characters that pop up in this great game. :D

My current character is Alfonso de Barcelona ,grandson of Yoan de Barcelona, who drove the Muslims out of the Iberian Peninsula and united Castille,Leon,Aragon and Navarra kingdoms under his banner !!!!He is also the Pope controller and he triggered a succesfull crusade to liberate Jerusalem...By playing CK you create your own medieval story..One of the gr8est game ever !!!!

If you won't start it I will. Great idea.

Malcolm will be remembered by us. Always. I want to share mine super-man too but I'll wait with it for the crypt.

EDIT : Oops. A little necromancy, but the idea is good indeed so someone should make the thread.

Will someone who has a claim to it create it? Or shall I grab the title and do it myself? :p

something like

"You are standing in a long corridor, with torches making dark shadows fly over the wall. It´s cold in this corridor and you don´t know how you got there, the last thing you can remember has something to do with the crusades. A dark figure approches you, the thing is wearing a black robe and has a scythe in its hand. In a moment it goes from being far away too stand right in front of you, but you cant see it´s face. You hear a rusty voice whisper "Do you want to see the crypt of old greatnes sir?". The voice gives you chills, but with a little stutter you manages to say "jes". You can´t see it´s face, but you have a felling that the thing is smiling. "Then follow me sir".The thing turns around and moves out of eyesight. You stand stunned a few seconds before you rush after it, into the darkness of this never-ending corridor."

Welcome to The Crypt, here you can put out the story of your most epic or least epic characters ever to grace your savegames. Want too tell us of your little Napoleon, or maybe you want to share the tale of your personal Medici. Whatever character you want to put forward this is the place to go to do it, preferebly with a small AAR too it.
I can only say "Welcome to The Crypt".
